Love this remote!!
We bought a Duluth Forge Ventless Fireplace in June that has a thermo remote. Right out of the box it didn't work correctly. The flame would show on the remote, but the burners wouldn't be on or the flame wouldn't be showing but the burners would be on. I tried calling the company that we bought it from, but there is only a recording telling customers to send an email. After 3 weeks of no response I decided I had wasted enough time with the company, so I started researching a replacement remote and receiver. This remote and receiver had great reviews and I liked the functions and display. I felt pretty confident that I could replace the Procom remote and receiver that came on the fireplace. We received it a few days before we expected. I decided to see if the remote would work with the receiver that came on the fireplace and it did!! Was excited that we wouldn't have to replace the receiver. We have had it for 3 weeks and we absolutely love this remote. It has functioned exactly as it is supposed to and it is much easier to use because of the display and the up-down buttons. It is well worth the money for the piece of mind that we won't get up to find the living room is 85 degrees like we did with the original remote and receiver plus we have the extra receiver on hand if the original one malfunctions. I would definitely recommend this remote and receiver to anyone!!

It works really well
I bought this after an old propane heating stove remote thermostat stopped working. This looked very simple to use, so I bought it. Wiring it was easy, because it was just like my old one. What I really liked about this was that I could use the clock timer to start and stop the thermostat operation at a specific time. I have it set to turn on at 6am and off at 9pm. During the off hours the heat never goes on. The only issue I had was trying to figure out the instructions to set the timer mode. It could just be that I’m getting older, but it finally clicked when I opened the front panel of the remote. This thermostat remote works so well. I wish I had bought it years ago. It keeps the area with 2 degrees of the set temperature all day.

So long as I keep the hopper filled with pellets it runs just fine. I'm also saving about a bag of pellets ...
Using this to control my pellet stove (Whitfield Optima 3). Last winter I ran the stove day and night, but there were times when the room the stove was in got to almost 80 degrees. Then I would manually shut it down whenever I noticed it, but then I would find myself freezing a couple of hours later until I turned it back on. Now I use the thermostat function on this to set the temperature at 72 and leave it alone. On really cold days, it will run 24hrs nonstop. But on warmer days it will shut down for a few hours and then kick back on when it needs to. I installed the black box directly to the stove (it is powered by AA batteries - included) Then the remote needed minimal programming to set it up. I place the remote in a spot that isn't too hot or too cold and leave it alone. It seems to work not by turning the entire stove on or off, but by controlling the flow of pellets and the blower. The stove is in the on position at all times with the fan on high and the heat on low. When the preset high temp is reached, pellets stop dropping and the blower turns off when the flame dies. When the temp drops 4 degrees, the pellets start falling again the blower kicks back on. So long as I keep the hopper filled with pellets it runs just fine. I'm also saving about a bag of pellets each week. At first I was using the timer function as well, but it only added an extra layer of complication.

Works very well
Great product, especially glad this is available as my fireplace insert manufacturer does not even offer a programmable wireless remote - theirs is manual on / off only. Very easy setup, just connect two wires from your fireplace to the receiver and find a place to stash it that won't get hot. I put mine behind the surround and below the firebox on my Jotul Scan fireplace insert. Remote comes with a wall bracket so you can put it anywhere as long as it is within wireless range. Mine is no more than 15' from the receiver and works fine; don't know how far you can put it and still be in range. Programming is somewhat limited as there are only two periods of the program, each with one on and one off time for a given temp. 12am to noon and noon to 12am are the two programmable periods. Also you cannot change the default minimum temp, which would be handy when you are running it manually, and you don't want the temp to go so cold. One last thing I'd like them to do would be to make the remote white instead of silver so it would be more discrete and blend into the wall. The painted silver color makes it look like an old school cheap TV remote.

E-Z Install, Bob’s my uncle.
Bought this remote to replace a 20-year old SkyTech 3001. It works perfectly. Installation was a breeze for me, but I was just replacing an existing remote, so used the same connection points on the millivolt block. Couldn’t have been easier. Took longer to put batteries in it than it did to hook it up! Really love the backlight feature. Nice remote, works real well. 2° F swing — the factory default — is perfect. If you’re looking for a gas appliance remote, this is a good one. Take the plunge! Feel the heat!

Does the job
Very simple to install and figure out. Solved a great problem that we were getting bulled all kind of money by the fireplace repair guys.

Great option for remote thermostat with automatic setback temperature.
I am using this on a Harman P43 pellet stove. The control box is inserted in series between one of the wires of the temperature sensor and the back of the stove—it doesn’t matter which one. I put the remote/temperature sensor unit near the entrance in the next room—play with the position to find what works for you, but this allows my pellet stove in the kitchen to make sure it keeps the living room warm. The temperature on the stove should be set to room temp and at least a few degrees above your target temperature—some recommend 10 or more degrees to get maximum burn when the sky tech thermostat is “on”. My settings are 75 on the stove, 71 on the Skytech with a swing temperature of 1 degree. I leave my stove on manual ignition for a constant maintenance burn when it’s below 40 degrees. A quick flick to auto while the Skytech is on will start the auto-lighting sequence, and then back to manual to keep it from shutting down completely between calls for heat—this eases my mind on cold nights that it won’t shut off and fail to light if I don’t get the burn pot scraped well enough. Leaving in the auto position will start and stop the stove as needed. Make sure to keep the auto-ignition area of the burn pot scraped to metal daily to avoid failed starts—I am able to do this while in maintenance burn by scraping under the hot coals, but this may not be recommended. Setback temp operation: set the thermostat to “thermo” and the desired setback temperature (or non program temperature). I use 65 degrees for overnight. Then turn on the “PROG” function and the thermostat will operate to the program set point during the program times and the setback temperature the rest of the time. To change the setback temperature, turn off PROG and then change the temperature and turn PROG back on. This allows me to save pellets overnight and still have the house warm by the time I get up in the morning.
