Just plug it in to 120v ac. I'm using this to assist with deflating our "self-inflating" sleeping pads which can be a bear to get the air out of after use when we are cabin camping. Also useful if you have bedding you need to take which is taking up too much space. You can get a couple of large space saver bags, place your sheets, pillows, and comforter in them and use the deflator function to suck the air out of the bags. I inserted a rubber washer into the intake on the top so it would make a good connection with the bags. This does not take out as much air as a vacuum cleaner would, but it takes out enough to make it worth it.
