Not much lift at all after compression. I have a 4 door tacoma.** A: I use them on a old town Saranac 146 and they work great. They also work well on Old town guide models. **Q: Has anyone used this to carry a ladder on the crossbars? I just cut the indents out to about a 10" diameter curve, sat them on the bars, the tank upon them, and strapped it down. These blocks saved me because I can slip them under the front of the bow to keep it off the truck. They fit well over the gunwales and have a slip resistant material on the bottom to prevent movement. I was also able to easily modify them by cutting out a portion with a razor blade to fit them over the carry handle better.
