I want to be able to use these speakers in kitchen, about 30 ft away from computer, using a usb. Is this possible

Yes, that is exactly why I purchased this incredible little speaker. Be sure to have the speaker plugged in to the USB port and set up BEFORE you download from the web.

Are there specific earphones/earbuds for this speaker? I want to use this at work, so I need the earphones.

It's a speaker, not a receiver. You don't plug earphones into your speakers in the car or house, do you? No, you plug earphones into the receiver or recording device, or Ipod, smart phone, or mp3.

is the quality of sound much better that laptop speakers?

Yes, unless you have a very large laptop with Beats audio or something to that effect.

So, it has a USB you can plug into a laptop to listen to music?

The usb broke, replaced it- new one will not pair- rendering speaker useless as my laptop has no bluetooth and i counted on the usb pairing to the speaker for sound. very disappointed.
