Absolutely brilliant product and it arrived a day earlier than expected. Very clear instructions on how to calibrate it which took less than two minutes. I’ve been using it for extracting over 500 jars of honey from different flora, so the item was a must.

Good piece of kit that is definitely worth the money. Wish it came with more calibration fluid as I am struggling to source it on the web.

I had lost confidence in my old refractometer which had no included calibration fluid. My honey was coming out in high 18 and 19% which was unusual (normally around 17%). Using virgin olive oil or sunflower oil to attempt calibration gave silly results - supposed to read 27% and 25% water respectively but not on my refractometer - both reading about 20.5%. Bought this new one which came with its own clibration oil and a corresponding calibration mark on the scale. Checked it with the calibration oil and it was nearly spot on. Compared it with another beekeepers refractometer and they were within 0.3%. Pleased with it. Found needed to let the sample rest on the prism plate for a few minutes to get a stable result. ATC seems to work.

Great little device but totally confused by the instructions (a poor translation from German). So, don't worry about the calibration - it comes pre-calibrated. Just to be sure, I checked using the calibration fluid supplied and it was 'bang on' 65% on the Brix scale in the viewfinder. I was then able to test honey samples immediately for water content without any adjustment. Worked first time straight out of the box - no need to tinker with the calibration!

Perfect for honey, only downside is it doesn't come in a long term storage case.
