Q: So many buy these systems without the right information. Two important things to know is how much water is wasted, does it filter one micron or less?

Good questions. This system will waste 1 gallon per 1 gallon purified when used as directed. You can find this information in the product description in the "RO System Chart". All of our RO system will filter down to 0.001 microns which is just slightly larger than the water molecule itself. In order for a system to be properly labeled "reverse osmosis" it must filter down to at least 0.002 microns to meet that definition.

Q: What comes in the "Loaded Package" vs the "Standard" option?

Loaded version adds Luxury Standard Brushed Nickel RO Faucet, Refrigerator Connection Kit, and Dow Filmtec 75 GPD high hardness RO membrane to the standard Home Master HydroPerfection Reverse Osmosis System.

Q: Can I install this in the basement (below the kitchen)? Is there enough water pressure to travel 10 ft of elevation?

I installed the unit in the basement, about 15' horizontally and 5' below the spigot. I built a small shelf just below the floor joists to hold the tank and filters. There is plenty of pressure to fill a 16 oz. glass in a few seconds. I got extra tubing for that distance from Home Master - excellent people to work with!

Question 1

Do introducing minerals (calcium and magnesium) recreate the hard water that my water softener removed? does it cause scaling? what is the gpg level?

Accepted Answer

This question is a barrel of snakes. I am going to try and straighten them out.The water softener, to which you are referring, is a whole house device. It uses an ion exchange process to remove calcium and magnesium minerals and introduces sodium or potassium salts in their place. The HydroPerfection is a drinking water system that uses reverse osmosis to remove salts, minerals and other dissolved solids."Hard water" is a specific term that refers to water with very high amounts of calcium and magnesium minerals >171 mg/L or 10 gpg, which at that level causes scaling and unsightly deposits. Water can be naturally soft when the same calcium and magnesium minerals are present at levels of <60mg/L where scaling and deposits are minimal or absent. What will happen if you install the HydroPerfection at your kitchen sink or bar, or basement below your kitchen sink and feed it water from your water softener? The HydroPerfection will remove the salt introduced by your softener and add 30-60 mg/L of calcium and magnesium from a fresh clean new source to effectively reproduce perfect natural Mineral Water on Tap®. I hope this helps. Please feel free to call us to discuss in more depth 877-693-7873 M-F 9am to 5pm MST.
