Trella MIPS

This helmet is lightweight and looks good. The cap visor is just a small brim held in place with velcro. If not adjusted right, it can look a little slanted and the frayed edges of where the visor ends might become visible, but those are no big deal to remedy. I got the grey and teal helmet, which I really like. It has a nice matte finish, and did not find any reflective hits, unfortunately. The reason why I mention this helmet fitting an average sized women's head is because this is the only size of this helmet. Luckily my head dimensions fit into their average. It sits fairly solidly on my head, needing only a few clicks on the dial in the back to really have it hold me without squeezing my brain. And hopefully you're like me where your ears fit well into the straps that go over each side of your head because they are not adjustable. The only adjustments is from single buckle/clip under your chin; I was able to easily tighten this with one hand, but not easy at all to add slack. I haven't been able to try this out in any weather warmer than 60F yet. But as for someone that sweats easily during physical activities, this helmet has adequate ventilation where I'm feeling the cool breezes fairly well. I like that my ponytail isn't obstructed by the dial in the back as it can be pushed down and out of the way for you to pull your pony through. I haven't had a chance to test if this helmet works in terms of saving my brain during an accident, fortunately. But I can tell you it's comfortable, good-looking, functional sun visor, well ventilated... if your head is of an average size of a woman.

Most helmet "visors" do little to shade sensitive eyes from the sun. The visor on this helmet actually WORKS! I had been thinking how to add a ballcap-like visor to my bike helmet for years. Not wanting to wear two layers, I fantasized about cutting up a baseball cap and velcroing the brim on somehow. This helmet does all that perfectly! This helmet is very light and comfortable to wear, well ventilated and with easy fit adjustment. Plus it it makes me look marvelous! Wonderful!

This is a nice helmet. I like the built in ball cap visor to protect from the sun. It is removable if you don't want to use it. I have a small head and this fit me great and feels comfortable. Plenty of holes for air flow. Liked that is was MIPS certified. Price was great too.

Great helmet for money

I'm a man with a medium sized head (~22") and purchased this helmet so it would have a smaller shell size than then men's equivalent. Less weight, looks less bulky, etc. Really love how it fits. Aside from maybe being 'pony tail compatible', a skull is a skull. Don't feel limited by the gendering of a bicycle helmet. Anyway I went over the handlebars going downhill at 45 mph the other week. I was wearing this helmet and landed rather squarely on the front corner of it. While it cracked in 3 places, I did not lose consciousness and walked away without a single scratch to my face despite skidding on the helmet for several feet. The rest of me is covered in road rash of course, but no broken bones. This helmet did it's job and saved my head. I not only walked away from this crash but I actually finished my ride and then sought first aid. I immediately purchased another. I also believe that the MIPS layer in this helmet significantly reduced the impact to my brain. Although I was a little dizzy for about a half hour afterwards, I did not get knocked out or suffer any serious brain injuries. Considering this is maybe a "light duty urban helmet", it did it's job fantastically at a high speed crash on a dirt road. Highly recommend.

The pros are that this helmet is lightweight & comfortable. Here’s why it didn’t work for me. The round adjuster dial at the back is difficult to access. The top half of the knob is behind the plastic of the helmet so you cannot grasp it with 2 fingers. Because the knob gets stiffer as you tighten the helmet, it becomes hard to turn the dial with just your thumb. I could get my finger under the plastic to get a better grasp, but it was a tight & uncomfortable squeeze. I also found the chin latch to be a bit difficult to unlatch for some reason. I had to work at it repeatedly. Maybe it was just this particular helmet.

I love this helmet. It's extra comfortable and very much light weight, but seems resistant. I hit couple of stuff while carrying it towards my bike and looks like it does not have scratches. The front part protects from sunlight and rain, being open on the top does not make you feel too warm on the head. The size is adjustable so can fit a range of heads, I have a small head/face and it does not look too big on me, although there is still quite a margin that would suit to somebody with a bigger head. I love the color, it's matching my bike and it goes without saying that I am well visible in traffic. I strongly recommend !

Fits perfect and very comfortable. I think it’s stylish. My only wish is if this helmet comes in a silver color, and if I had an option to buy the safety light to attach to the back of my helmet, at checkout.
