Very convenient
I'm one of a small percentage of people who use this differently from how it's intended. Most people want this so they can hide their garbage by mounting this out of sight inside their cabinets. That's not important to me. What is important is that a trash can be easy to reach, clean and empty. This is all that. I mount it on the side of my last kitchen cabinet, high enough that the lid is just about level with the counter. At this height, I don't have to bend over to reach it. When I have garbage, I just reach over, lift the lid with a finger, toss the trash in and lower the lid. I don't have to step back from the cabinet door, open it, lift the lid and reverse the process when done, which saves time. It's just there. The exposed, visible location isn't objectionable to me. In fact, I think the industrial design actually looks rather modern and minimalistic with its wire frame. Likewise, when it's time to replace the bag, the high position is much easier to work with than low on the inside of a cabinet door. The lid is helpful for keeping the cats around the home from getting into the garbage. Likewise, the fact that it's solidly mounted means the cats can't knock it over. Other people have mounted it to the wall, which also works. Something else I like is that, unlike a regular trash can, it doesn't have walls that capture loose debris. Eventually, that stuff just seems to collect, smell up the place and the can needs to be washed out. This open design means any loose debris would just fall onto the floor, where it's cleaned up during regular floor sweeping, which is easy because the high position leaves the floor open and easily accessible, unlike a trash can that sits on the floor. Again, my relatively high mounting position for it means it's easy to reach for cleaning. I just wipe it down when necessary. The lack of a rigid wall all the way around means the bags can be used to their full capacity instead of being constrained by the shape of the trash can. I've had other trash cans before that claim to fit grocery bags, but their fit was usually imperfect, being too long, too short, too wide, etc. This was the first one where it felt like it was tailor-made for the bags. Unfortunately, some stores seem to be buying smaller bags nowadays, which don't fill the frame anymore. The bags slip right around the top of the frame and the handles are held up by hooks so the bag doesn't slide down as it gets filled. The drip tray is supposed to catch liquids, but I don't put wet garbage in the bags anyway. The tray still serves a useful purpose by supporting the bottom of the bag so the bag doesn't stretch and break. In short, this is a useful and inexpensive kitchen trash solution and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if it broke. Which it shouldn't, since it seems to be fairly well-constructed.

TrashRac 82153-3Gal Trash Rack is PERFECT. I recommend.
After 26 years of using a Rack Sack wired garbage bag holder, although it still functions as from day 1, my wife told me to shop for a similar replacement, newer, cleaner, hopefully a little better. After a couple of days of searching in Amazon, I finally found one, which is similar and might be a little better. I order this TrashRac. After a little bit of time installing it, I am completely happy with the product. I do recommend this product to someone who wants a similar thing. And the price is reasonable. so everything is perfect. I am including pictures of the new unit, as well as my old unit.

Awesome Product!
I'm in love with this product. I bought it to reuse plastic bags from the grocery store as trash bags. I installed it under the kitchen sink on the back of the door. It perfectly holds a standard size plastic grocery store bag. The lid on top helps keep trash out of sight and helps reduce odor. I couldn't find any reviews that definitively stated the TrashRac could be mounted (I was concerned it might just hang over the top of the door which I didn't want it to do) but just to clarify it comes with three small mounting screws. Installation took maybe five minutes. I held it up where I wanted to mount it, made sure my clearances were set, marked the three screw holes with a pencil, drilled three shallow pilot holes, and mounted it to the door. It was a snap.

Screws are too long!
I also ended up drilling through the cabinet door even though I carefully tried to measure the thickness of the panel. I found that it would be impossible to use the provided screws without going completely through, so I cut pieces of a paint stirring stick that worked perfectly as a spacer. Overall, installed with paint stirring sticks, I find that it is not as sturdy as I'd expect it to be. I love the simplicity and the concept of this item and have been looking everywhere to get one since The Container Store has discontinued it and even only having it installed for all of 10 minutes now I'd definitely rate it 5-stars, but the lack of including shorter screws that don't go through the cabinet door panel or some kind of spacer or any warning at all I have to take the rating down at least 1-star and that's being generous as I now have a hole in my cabinet door. UPDATE 9/13/2016: Unfortunately, several months ago it fell off the cabinet door. The panel on our cabinet door just isn't thick enough to support something like this and using the paint stirring sticks was doomed for failure. I finally ended up buying an 8 ft piece of "furring" strip (scrap 1" x 2" strip of wood) from the hardware store and some Gorilla glue. I cup pieces, sanded them down and glued them to the cabinet door. First attempt didn't go well, I assumed it was more like superglue that would adhere rather quickly but that is not the case. I would've been much better off removing the cabinet door from the hinges, gluing the wood strips on and placing heavy objects on them which I did for the second piece and let them dry overnight. So the glue didn't look pretty and got all over the place, but finally I was able to screw the trashrac all the way into solid wood and it is very stable now. Wish I had done this from the beginning. Leaving the rating as a 4 because we still love this item, but there was nothing included to accommodate a cabinet door panel that is thinner than the screws are long. I also noticed that the Container Store has it available again.
