Other than taking it out and doing a visual inspection when it arrived, it sat in its box, unused until Christmas. By the time it failed in mid February, it was way too late to return it. It's very disappointing. I kind of had a feeling this might happen, but I took a chance because my son had been wanting one for a long time. I have one and it's amazing. Practically new **Q: Is the port cover on the side still on it** A: Mine is. It's a refurbished unit **Q: Is it functioning at 100%?** A: I am hesitant to unequivocally say yes, but it probably is as close to 100% as can be expected. I didn’t have the original as a kid, so I can only assume the display was always this tough to see despite playing with the contrast. The only confirmable problem I had was once the game cartridge did not read correctly. This was fixed by removing and reinserting the cartridge.
