Bayonet Batten White Ceiling Lamp Holder BC B22 Light Bulb Socket Lamp Fitting

My husband fitted this in a matter of minutes, it is a little shorter that the one we replaced but that is not a problem for us. It was a great price and the quality is fine for what we needed, it has been used daily for a while now with no issues at all.

My application for this light fitting was not for standard use, I have a fire effect unit in my fire place which had the old element style threaded bulbs which are no longer available, my first mistake was to just try to fit modern bulbs but unbeknown to me were the wrong voltage so I replaced both fittings and got 230 volt power supply connected to 2 of the above fittings, they were easy for me to adapt and do the job perfectly..

This light fitting was very easy to fit and good for the money. A seems a little 'cheap' and fragile, but does the job.

It's a fail, I'm afraid. The white plastic is too fragile for an electrical item that is clearly going to be used in utility settings. I cracked the case around one of the screwholes and a large bit came off. I don't like seeing metal mains electricity terminals through holes. More importantly, the design is flawed. The brown hard plastic centre holding the connectors and pins doesn’t have a ring to screw down to keep it secure in the base. Instead it just has tabs to stop it rotating, and relies on the collar being screwed down on to that make it stable. So far so good... BUT to mount the socket on the wall you have to take the collar off because it it is wide enough to block access for the screwdriver to get the screw holes. Unscrewing it means the brown centre is wobbly and you now have a really awkward situation of the brown centre out of it's positioning tabs, trying to thead the collar over a wobbly middle in a confined space with poor light. And guessing where the positioning tabs are. I didn't manage it before the thread had cracked on the base and the tabs had snapped off and I was being gentle too. Fortunately I had bought another socket as a spare and had gone for a different brand.t was from a different make just in case this one didn't fit. The design fault would be easily solved if the screw holes are angled so you can usr the screwdriver unimpeded. The poor quality plastic might then just be able to cope.
