Very High Quality - Functions Very Well
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Made in the US, design, fit, finish, and operation of this tool are excellent. Durable; it will give many, many years of service. Worth the expense because you'll never need to buy another one unless you need a different size. Just one comment for improvement, below. See photos: The jaws are forged steel and well machined with a cross-hatch pattern to provide some grip. Lesser tools of this type have cast jaws that are prone to failure. The graduated notches on the ends of the jaws allow quick positioning to get a bend of uniform depth - nice touch. The jaws meet evenly and uniformly. Handles are comfortable and provide good grip. Fasteners all have nyloc nuts. The mechanism to lock the jaw shut to reduce its size in your tool bag is simple and functions perfectly. You can unlock the tool with the thumb of your gripping hand. The important thing is the ability to bend - quite simply, its very good. 4 vs. 5 stars for this: One area that could be improved upon is that it would be nice to have a toggle-over lock to clamp to the sheet material you're bending without having to keep a strong grip through the bend. That way, you can better concentrate on the angle of the bend you're making.

Love these new handles they switched over to
Love these new handles they switched over to. Makes me want to buy a whole new set of hand tools just to have them with these better handles. I have already replaced many of them already and used them under harsh conditions for well over a year now and not run into any failure yet. The new locking mechanism is also an improvement; easy to use and does not get in the way as much as the old design, and is not likely to get bent out of shape.

Great!
I bend metal and fabricate duct out in the field. These seamers are solid! I use them primarily for 24-28 gauge metal. Malco quality. You get what you pay for!! I recommend these seamers!

Not good for 24 gauge
The quality of the seamers is fine. If you are working with light sheet metal there should be no problem. I was trying to use them with 24 gauge sheet metal roofing and I couldn't do much with them. I think the problem is more with my application than the seamers. They might have had the umph that I needed if the handles were longer. I wound up getting the offset handle, narrower seamers and they worked much better for me.

Overall Malco has some great solid seamers, but like some (not all) of its competitors they seem to put in a pretty hard spring. when you are bending seams for an extended period of time, just strength of the spring can wear your hand out. I don't quite understand the logic of having such hard Springs installed where the strength needed to bring the seamer back to open position is minimal. One more issue is when trying to squeeze 2 or 3 over bends it becomes pretty hard. The handles should be almost touching when no sheet is inserted. I work with copper. Other then that, quality is top notch.
