Is the kmc x8.93 8 speed 7.3 mm? what's the difference between this and the kmc x8.93 6/7/8 speed chain?

The KMC X8, also known as the 8.93, works on all standard 6, 7, and 8 speed drivetrains. I have used it on all three with no problems.

Will the kmc x8.93 6,7,8-speed chain replace the 'narrow hg 40" chain i have on my novara with 8 rings in the rear? all the others say 1/8 not 3:32.

I believe it should work fine for you. From what I could find the newest narrow hg 40 chain is 7.1 mm, and this is 7.3 mm. The older hg 40 chains were the same as this chain, so it should work for you.
