| Directions | Add with 5ml syringe 1 ml of water in the test vial. Add 6 drops of NH3-1 (watch out caustic!) and swirl gently for 5 seconds. Add 6 drops of NH3-2 (watch out contains Mercury salts, wash hands after use, keep away from food, see additional warning under the heading WARNING). Swirl gently for 5 seconds and allow to stand for 5 minutes. Hold the test vial and look through the side of the test vial. |

Much better than API
At least Salifert Kits can give you a zero reading unlike API Ammonia kit which reads .25 even when the water has Zero Ammonia. There is really nothing bad to say about this kit, It works as advertised and the readings are what I expected.

Just wanted to try something better than api. Does the job.

added ammonia to tank and this says there is none.
After adding ammonium chloride, I know I have ammonia in my tank. The Salifert test says there is none and yes I know how to test using this product,(directions are easy. API says I have about 3ppm with 2 different kits. I tested with all 3 kits and results were consistent with Salifert being consistently wrong, VERY WRONG. Exp. Date is 09/27. I bought this kit in preparation to cycle a new tank so can’t get a refund or exchange I’m sure. What a waste of money and time. I was looking for accuracy and this is not the answer!!

Easy to use.
Being brand new to the hobby, I found this easy to use and understand. Definitely a winner in my book!

Simple and efficient
I bought this because of negative reviews of a competing product. This one is easy to use. The color palette is easy to distinguish, and I think I can match the color of the solution with color on the palette with good accuracy.

Better than API
Works great, much more accurate than API. API was detecting ammonium from the tap water and giving me false results.
