Great 8 port switch
This is a really decent 8 port switch. Never thought I would need to add one of these to my setup until recently when we ran into an issue with my kids downstairs computer lab was flooded from the city sewer. Kinda sucked bad but we was able to save and protect all the computers before everything was ruined. But all I had was an old 8 port from switch from 1999 which only ran at a max of 10mbps which allowed them to do school work until this came. Now it has no issues at all. Talk about lucky I held on to some old stuff for just incase times. lol... This is really a great switch. I haven't noticed any issues with it at all. I rewired a few things and decided to run my network server through it just to see how it handles and its been great plus we have 3 pc's running through it too. It barely gets warm with all that data passing through it. Hopefully this helps anyone with a purchase looking at one.

Fast, runs cool, plug and play.
This switch has some great features, but when it comes down to it, it just works...and it works well. I was extremely surprised to see that after 4 days of use this switch was running cold to the touch (considering I run 3 devices that are never turned off and 4 others that are on 12 hrs a day this is great news). My old Cisco Small Business SD2005 would overheat often under load and it always ran very hot to the touch. Performance and lifespan are what usually take a hit when your switch runs hot, i don't feel that this will be a problem at all with this switch. It performs well and I get an average between 96MB/s - 115MB/s (that's megabytes) on large file transferes, sometimes faster speeds depending on what is being transferred to where. The cable diagnostic function is awesome, it has already helped me diagnose an issue with a cable. I've got two WHS 2011 boxes, an Open Solaris box, an iMac, PC, Minecraft Server, and a wireless access point connected to this bad boy. My WHS boxes maintain backups of all the systems I have on my network and host all my media. At any given time there is always traffic running through this switch. On top of great performance this little guy has a lifetime warranty as well. This has been one of the best unmanaged switched I've ever owned. I'm confident that this will continue to work well over the years. Even without a mail-in rebate this switch is a great value. I'll update if I experience any issues.

D-Link 8 Port Gigabit switch
This works well, but can cause issues with addressing on certain things. I had to put my modem in bridge mode (disables wifi within the modem) to use an A/C wireless router. Since I have the Comcast triple play, they required me to purchase a modem that is compatible for the phone service even though I don't use it. There are only 2 choices, both of which are junk for wifi (mine is only N) so I needed this to run other things without the internal modem wifi. My nvr works fine off of it, but only at 100 meg per second. My home computer will work fine full speed (I have 150mbps) off of this, but I can't directly access my nvr from computer, but live view does work. Now, another issue I have encountered is both my magic jacks won't work from the outlet ports from this, I am guessing that it has to see an address. I had to connect them to my router in order for them to work. A nightmare of cables, connection woes, but this did help to get things working far better than before. Web addressing is a horrible mess of issues that are extremely hard to solve, and it's still not 100% the way it should be, but workable. Comcast wants to charge me 10.00 a month lease for their modem, forget that waste of money, but the lack of options for the phone service on the availability of purchase options (only 2 to chose from, and Arris brand) really stinks. If this modem ever fails, they will provision whatever modem I buy if they want to keep me as a customer, even if it don't have phone access.

It's extremely durable and works great. I believe it's a very good quality purchase and I'd buy it all over again any day
This hub works great and does a fantastic job. I love the way that the Ethernet activity is indicated with the LED lamps on the unit and you instantly know that the port is active and functional. I hate to say it but I somehow found the ability to drop this Hub at least three separate times as I was installing it and those drops were from up to three feet and down to a hardwood floor so no soft carpet for it to land on. After the third drop and thud sound as the metal case hit the floor, I was just anxious that my mistakes were going to cost me a working hub but in the case of this metal case it took a licking and kept on ticking, so to say. This device is durable and took far more punishment than you would expect an Ethernet Hub to take. So far it's working flawlessly and the connections are very fast when checked with an online speed test.

Plug and Play So Simple!!
Plugged it in and it worked Right off the start as advertised. The LED's Blink Green for cables that are operating @ 1000 Mbps and amber for cables that are operating at 100 Mbps. I used this to replace 2 aging D-link routers that I was using as switches. They had reached a point where they would work for a day or two and then cause a conflict on the primary Carrier provided router taking down the entire network. This one switch was able to replace both pieces of equipment and was much easier with its plug and play ability then all the configuring I needed to do to make the Routers function as switched. I'm very Pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a cheap and easy way to add more Ethernet ports to there small home network.

Very Easy Setup
I have another switch from another company and I have to say this switch was 10x easier to install than the other one because the how to graphic that comes in the box really made it easy. On my other switch I didn't understand that I had to run it through my router, to get the split. This brand does a good job very simply laying it all out for you. I recommend this to other novices like me. I also really like metal boxes because they are easy to ground should you choose to do so. I just screwed a ground connector into the side of the box where there wasn't any circuitry with a self tapping screw and attached the ground wire to it and into the ground only 3 prong plug and it reduced body voltage to almost nothing. This of course only works with a properly wired grounded outlet, so you'd want to check with an outlet tester first. Then if wired correctly you can do the above. If not it would increase body voltage most probably. This was important to me since we hardwired our house so we could turn off wifi for health reasons as it is incredibly damaging to our cellular health.

Solid gigabyte switch at a good price.
I use this network switch in a small network and have not had any issues with it. In the past, I've tried consumer-type switches with plastic cases. Aside from being flimsy and often falling or tipping just from the weight of the cables, they seem to crash often and be a bottleneck for throughput. This switch offers gigabit speed at each of the 8 ports. The case feels solid as it is metal, and sits stably on a shelf. A few notes: this is a PnP switch and is unmanaged. While it does have QoS support, there's no way to see or change how traffic is prioritized. All of the notification LEDs are on the same side of the ports, which means if you place the device with the connections in the back, you can't see them. I actually preferred this since I don't want to see bright blinking LEDs. The device runs fairly cool as it seems that the entire metal case is a heat sink. This switch is great for both prosumer and consumer use.
