Very good sound reproduction. Highs are not harsh or too bright as with many earbuds. Bass is clean and not muddy and is quite adequate especially at < 15 dollars. Only drawback is that no foam covers are supplied for the drivers. I have big ears and a fat head. Can’t stand in the ear buds so these are just the ticket for me. They don’t interfere with my eyeglasses and I can sleep on my side with them on. For me, these are more comfortable than non ear hook types as the conventional type are always falling out. I which that the whole assembly was adjustable to better suit individual needs. All they need is a wire imbedded in the plastic so they could be better shaped. They do stay on well while I am working and don’t fall of while listening in bed. Good value otherwise and they work well with my iPod Classic, Sansa Clip, and my home audio system.

I'm on my third pair in five years, and I plan to keep buying these as long as Philips makes them. The combination of price, comfort, and sound makes these the best running/workout headphones I've ever found. I wear them almost exclusively while running or cycling, so inevitably they begin to fail after a year or two as the cord becomes damaged from bouncing and swinging around (which is why I've had 3 pairs in 5 years). But this is expected, and will happen with any headphones. The advantage these have is that they're so cheap that I don't care when they break. At this price, 1-2 years of heavy use is more than fair. The sound quality is fine. Don't expect premium sound, but music and podcasts come through loud and clear, with none of the tinniness you get from many cheap headphones. As long as you don't expect booming bass or audiophile sound, you'll probably be satisfied. For me, the key feature of these headphones is the fit. The hooks are comfortable and keep the headphones perfectly in place, no matter how fast I'm moving and how much I'm bouncing around. I've tried several different headphones with similar designs, and the fit ranged from decent to terrible (Skull Candy, I'm looking at you). But for me, none came close to fitting as well as these Philips. I also appreciate that these are not an in-ear design, so you can still hear approaching cars and other things you might not want to miss while running. In short, these are cheap, comfortable headphones that provide decent sound. I'd choose something nicer for just sitting around and listening to music, but for running, I wouldn't consider anything else.

I bought these headphones to use while at the gym working out. My regular earbuds would always fall out after a few minutes, and anytime the cord was touched or hit my body I'd hear it over the music, which got pretty annoying. I decided that any earbud type headphone wouldn't work for the gym even if it did have clips or some attachment system. The Philips headphones are pretty low end in terms of sound quality - but then again, what do you expect for less than $10? They definitely get loud enough and the mids and trebles are decent, though I do wish there was more power in the low end. Maybe its just a function of the actual speakers resting on the ear canal instead of creating a solid, airtight fit with the ear like earbuds do. If you press these ones in your ear with your finger you'll get a lot more bass, but no way to keep them there (and it'd be uncomfortable). So if you're looking for deep bass, I wouldn't recommend these. But for most people who just want some decent music, or who are listening to news/podcasts, I think the sound quality is totally fine. The construction of the actual headphone and hooks is pretty good and seems relatively durable. The cord is a good length, it reaches my shorts pocket with an extra 6 or 12 inches to spare, which is great if you're moving around. It might be a bit too much extra cord if you have an arm-attached music player, but then again you may be able to wrap up the extra cord. The cord itself isn't the greatest - it feels somewhat thin/cheap and it has retained the kinks that were there from the folded up packaging when I received the item. But no real complaints as the cord quality doesn't affect the overall usage, its just a bit different than the cord on my higher end (i.e. $30) Sony earbuds. Overall I'm pretty happy with the headphones. They have decent sound and don't transfer noise through the cord, they stay in my ear with no issues, and they were very inexpensive. I definitely recommend them if you want something to use at the gym or while working out. If you are an audiophile or have unlimited funds, then I'm sure there are better products out there and these Philips aren't for you. But then again, you probably wouldn't be even reading this review : )

Update 2/8/16: I've now been using my "earhooks" for almost two months. I still like them a whole lot; however, there are a couple things I noticed and wanted to add to my review. Firstly, I have periodically experienced a static zap in my ears when unplugging from my devices (iPad Air2, iPhone 6s, Macbook Pro) while keeping the earhooks on. The hooks are not easy to get on and off. Thus, if I need to disconnect from my device for a moment, I sometimes leave earpieces on my head and unplug at the device, tucking the cord end in my pocket. The zapping seems to happen when the atmosphere is staticky and the bare metal jack touches something with a charge (like my sweater or my husband). Kerpowie! I'm more careful now about how I disconnect the jack and making sure the jack is tucked away safely while I'm walking around. Secondly, the sound from the earpieces is readily perceived by others at moderate volumes. This is because the earpieces don't actually go *in* the ear canal, but rest just outside, which allows some sound to escape. This is not a deal-breaker for me, but was a bit of a surprise when I thought I was being all sneaky but my husband could hear everything I was listening to. ;) Even with these caveats, I still think that at under 10 samoleans these little guys are a good value. I really like the sound, they're very comfortable, and they are the only inexpensive headphones I have that don't fall out. Original Review: Holy moly, I have finally found it: cheap headphones that sound decent and—most importantly to me—don't fall outta my ears! Wow. I have them on right now. And I totally love them. My ears are... I don't know. Alien ears. Toddler ears. Not normal adult human ears, apparently. Because I have never ever EVER found a set of earbuds/headphones that didn't simply drop out of my ears—or hurt. In-ear buds hurt me. Even the smallest size inserts are painful. I've also tried the over-ear form factor a few times without success. The speaker was always aimed in a way that I could not hear the sound easily. This has been my experience: brief bouts of hopeful experimentation with looooong stretches of disappointment and resignation. Every once in awhile I get sad and try a new set of headphones just to see if they aren't entirely horrible on me. These Philips headphones were a gamble I figured would disappoint like all the rest. (Do I sound bitter? Dang right I am.) I was afraid to be too hopeful at this price point. I am so delighted to tell you, however, that my very low expectations have been happily blown to bits. TO BITS. These Philips "earhook" style phones are soooo comfy. And I can waggle my head all around without them falling out! Heck, they don't even move. Huzzah! Because the speaker is aimed well for my tiny ear canals, I can hear the music really well. Even the bass parts sound pretty dang good. Certainly amazingly well for this price. The only niggle is that I wish there was a volume control on the cord. I'm still very happy with them, though. If you are similarly afflicted with weirdo ears, I'd encourage you to give these a try. I'm currently the youngest resident of an assisted living facility. I got these for two reasons. They'd be easier to deal with than a full-size pair of headphones, and because they'd make sleeping with whatever my white noise of choice easier... just pop em in place and go. Unlike earbuds they don't really get inserted into the ear, but rest just outside of the earhole. The loop they're attached to goes around the ear, and between the two, it'll all stay put. When it does, sound quality is nice for speakers the size of a dime, more or less. Bass leave a bit to be desired but it's not like the music is being played on a penny whistle or anything. For the price and size it's probably as good as you'd expect without a "bass boost" doohicky. They have no noise canceling to speak of, save for just turning the volume up. Now for the dinosaur in the guineapig enclosure. These **REFUSE** to stay in place through such rough, strenuous events as reading a book. Watching TV. Watching yootoob. Having dinner. Lying in bed, both with and without fluffy pillows. And many other things I'm not going to bother defining; your imagination will do a better job anyway. Over rhe course of a few minutes, the speaker will "walk" out of the correct position, taking with it most of the sound quality. "But maybe you're putting them on wrong?" I've followed instructions, seen photos and even a video on emplacing these. No dice. Either I have a pair of the most abnormal ears ever, or there's something hinky going on with them, or I'm totally incompetent. If they stayed put, they'd be ☆☆☆☆ for sure. I'm giving them three because I'm not 100% convinced my ears aren't weird. If I was, they'd get two stars. What's the point of earphones if they refuse to stay in place?

I've owned a few pairs of these, so I figured it makes sense that I write a review. The good: I find them to be very comfortable (fine-print: I don't wear glasses) Good sound quality for the money Good ear canal "breathability" (they don't "plug" the ears, as some of the silicon gasket ones do). The bad: I've owned 3 or 4 of these because I've had to replace them about 1-2x per year, and always for the same reason: the rubber "gasket" in between the silver speak outlet and the body of the headphones tends to come off after awhile. Yes, this has happened on EVERY SINGLE pair I've had. However, they are, by far, the most comfortable headphones I've owned (compared with others under $20). In all fairness, to each his own. I prefer comfort (including not having my ear canals "clogged/blocked" by the headphones. In my opinion, these headphones allow for great "breathability" in the ear canal. And the earhooks themselves aren't super stiff - in fact, I find them to have a near-perfect amount of flex - so they should conform to most ears/head for a comfortable fit (they don't press against the head or ears, but aren't so loose to fall out often). The sound quality isn't "top notch", but still good enough to use for most practical purposes. However, on that note, if you have music on loud, it is easier for people near you to hear the music (again, for $10, they're not going to be perfect). These are much more comfortable than any other earhook headphone I've tried (again, in the <$20 range), and that counts for me, even if I have to sacrifice some sound quality and longevity. To each his own. Update: got another pair a few months ago, this time the gasket did not come off, but they just suddenly stopped working today. Might not buy anymore. Update: my newest pair just had the gasket come off again. Still a good product when it's working properly, but considering that every single pair I've owned has had a problem, I can't justify a favorable review, especially considering the price tag (they used to be much cheaper. Now they are $35. WTH?!?!?!). Contacted the seller and they would not provide any sort of compensation. All things considered, I cannot justify a favorable review.

I have been going to gym regularly for the past 5 years. I take working out pretty seriously and I sweat a lot. I tried many kinds, makes and brands of headphones and no headphones lasted more than 6 months due to sweat even when I spent $25 a piece. The major problem with the other brands I used so far is, the sweat goes into the headphones and they stop working after 3 to 6 months, some brands even after 2 months. 9 months ago, I bought these Philips SHS3200 headphones for $8 right here on amazon and they are still working fine. I am a small person and my body parts including my ears are small. After reading some of the reviews here, I was hesitant before purchasing whether these headphones would be big for my ears. I gave these headphones a shot because I was unhappy with various headphones I used until then and these are only $8. I have no trouble using these headphones for two to three hours at a time. If I use it more than three hours at a time, I feel a very little pain in my ears. I would still buy these headphones again and I give these headphones 5 stars. The way these headphones are designed they don't fall off the ears when you are working out. The sound quality I would not say is the best but is pretty good too. For runners and people who work out a lot, definitely try these headphones; these headphones hold up well to sweat. Also, due to sweat and rough use, you don't want to spend a lot on headphones for your work outs. For people who have small ears, you can also try these headphones, don't get discouraged by other people's reviews. One advice to people that have small ears, don't push the headphones all the way into your ears until they hurt your ears; and don't use a hammer to beat these headphones into your small ears; just relax, take it easy and hang these headphones around your ears. For the price of $7 or $8, you can't complain about these headphones. And no, I don't work for Philips. I am a runner and gym maniac myself and I am just a satisfied customer.

I'm giving these five stars because they are five stars for what they are, inexpensive 3.5 mm wired headphones. I am using these with a cheap compact radio that will be primarily an emergency radio. I saw some complain that they are hard to put on. There is a trick with this type. Rotate them forward so the tip of the hook is at the top of your ear, then push the hook behind your ear and rotate backward into place.
