The Japanese Skincare Revolution: How to Have the Most Beautiful Skin of Your Life#At Any Age [Saeki, Chizu, Takayama, Hirokazu, Yokota, Kay] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Japanese Skincare Revolution: How to Have the Most Beautiful Skin of Your Life#At Any Age Review: Best Beauty Advice You Can Get - I bought this book just after it came out--I'm surprised it took me so long to comment. I bought it looking for a less expensive, yet natural way to help with the deepening lines on my brow line and next to my mouth. Her advice claims to help achieve the best skin of your life at any age, which I'd say is very true--especially considering the Chizu Saeki herself is in her 60s and changed her skin much later in life using her own techniques. Not only has she successfully used her own advice, she's worked as a beautician for over 45 years, and has worked for skincare companies Guerlain and Dior Parfums, and is now a famous beauty "guru" in Japan. So she's very qualified to give advice. VERY BASIC CONTENT BREAKDOWN: Introduction: Begins by teaching you how to get the most out of your skincare products. She gives advice on how products work their best and describing the difference between serums, cremes, etc. She also briefly discusses the importance of diet and water. Overall, she really approaches skincare both inside and out. Chapter 1: Gives you a list of tools and cosmetics you'll need to use some of her techniques. Other reviewers have said that she recommends certain products, but she actually states that they are merely her favorites and you can use as you please. Chapter 2 & 3: Skincare basics and massage techniques. THIS CHAPTER ALONE IS WORTH MORE THAN THE PRICE OF THE BOOK. I use these massage techniques everyday (it takes less than 5 minutes) and it really works. I was actually quite surprised to see results within 2 weeks, thinking that if it worked at all, it would take a few months. But there was a very noticeable decrease in the wrinkles on my brow line and around my mouth. I even added some light lip pinching, which has made my lips look more plump. I didn't use any other techniques at the time. The difference was purely the result of the massage. Chapter 4: Describes the best way to approach everyday skincare, from washing your face to night therapy. Chapter 5: Goes through common problems and how to help fix these problems, such as wrinkles, sagging, oily skin and acne. Chapter 6: Gives some "spa secrets" to do at home, like creating a steam pack with a shower cap. Appendixes: Helps you diagnose your skin type, and change skincare routines for seasons. Overall, the book is very helpful, gives great descriptions, has great pictures and diagrams and is well-written. I have personally felt that the techniques work very well. The only issue I have with it is that many of the techniques are time-consuming. But like I said, the facial massage alone worked enormously well for me and takes only a few minutes per day. I know the massages so well I barely have to think about them. Ditch the Botox and stop spending outrageous amounts of money at the spa and buy this book. It's easily the best beauty advice I've gotten--even among the numerous amounts of beauty advice that exists on the internet. Review: Sensible information on skin care - I love how the author emphasizes being gentle to your skin, and working with what you have to get great results. Her recommendations require some time but are not necessarily expensive to do. Some of the work to counteract wrinkles reminds me of the Face Yoga method (which is more in depth.) It's a quick read, straight forward and simple, but a book to refer to again and again. Everything is explained well and there are plenty of pictures included. I learned that some wrinkles are caused by skin being too dry and tried a hyaluronic acid lotion, which utterly eliminated some fine lines I had. I had been blasting them with AHA treatments and peels, which made the dryness worse. The author says doing too much can be more destructive than not doing enough, and sometimes it's a good idea to dial back your efforts. The book is packed with sensible advice that the author gleaned from a long career as an aesthetician, and she works from a slightly different point of view than Western beauty practices. I'm always happy to learn new things and improve my routine. Love this book!

Sensible information on skin care

Weatlh of information, and it seems to work
I purchased this book as part of a New Year's resolution, to do something about my appearance every month... and this book was February's project. Beginning March now, and... - To begin with, there were some extra costs associated with it: for the first month's adventures, I decided to go with an organic non-alcohol based lotion and serum, some fancy cotton pads, and some shower caps, amounting to roughly $40. Not too bad as they seem that they will last for a while. And I did feel empowered after reading that it's not so much the product, as the way you apply it (anybody else having left a brand-name stand at the mall half depressed after hearing the prices?) - I am slowly adapting her techniques to my schedule. I found the amount of information to be overwhelming for someone not as versed or previously interested in skincare... so one small step at a time. - My main complaint about the book: I am not as good at learning from photos, I fully prefer videos! I would have gladly paid for a DVD demonstrating her massage technique (yes, I can follow from the book, but I don't know for how long to hold a stretch for example). And that's the reason I deducted a star (but maybe it's my own stupidity there). - What has changed in my morning routine: I gave up on her massage routine, but I found a video on youtube about Tanaka face massage, which seems to be closely related. It's a 10 minute lymphatic (sort-of) facial massage. Following that, some minor exercising - rebounding to clear the rest of the lymphatic system, and then, after showering and facial cleansing, put on the serum, do something else for 5 minutes to let it get absorbed, and then prepare her lotion mask... put a shower cap on top, and keep it on for the duration of my morning meditation practice (before you ask, I get up at 5:30 am, so all this, including my daily yoga practice is finished before 7 am). The results: one month into this practice, my forehead wrinkles have almost disappeared, the fine lines underneath the eyes are getting better and the couple that were on my neck are improving at a rapid pace. To put things in perspective, I'll be 42 in a couple of days. Yes, it takes effort and time. But then, so does working out, or dieting - no magic pills there. I think the cost (of the extra products, so no direct criticism on the book here) is very reasonable for the results that I am seeing, no complaints there. I think that the information in the book is totally worth it for someone that is not a skincare expert, and would highly recommend this book. And I would certainly buy a DVD if it ever came out :)

I've used skin care since I was 18. Now, in my 50's I have finally learnt what and how to apply the correct products in the correct order and technique so as to gain maximum effect. Within one week of applying the techniques outlined in this book I could see obvious results and was getting compliments on how good I'm looking. The only change was reading and applying the knowledge from this book. Thank you.
