Review: Strong magnets - Strong magnets at a good price. I've used two of them to attach a four pound weight to a metal tube and they do the job.
Review: Pretty good little DIY magnets - These are good for what I needed them for. I used them to attach a power strip to the side of my toolbox, and they work well for that. I used three on a 9" power strip to hold it onto the side of the toolbox. They aren't super strong, at lest not as strong as some other ones I have purchased. You can remove the power strip without too much effort, which is ok for this purpose. They do hold the power strip strong enough to where when you pull a cord out of the strip, you are not pulling the strip away from the toolbox. The adhesive that comes with the magnets are strong, and easily worked to hold the magnets to the back of the smooth power strip. While I gave it a 5 for what I was needing them for, if you are looking for some really strong magnets that will hold more that say 10#s, these are not what you are looking for.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do they stand up to heat?**
A: I use Neos on oil filters without a problem. Any fine ferrous material in the oil stops there. I use 1" dia x 1/2 thick 45lb pull Neos. (Strong enough to put on a closed steel tool box and pull tools to the top from the top tray inside the tool box.) No noticeable degradation in strength over 30,000 miles (car) 25,000 miles (water cooled motorcycle). As for actual temp, I would suspect much higher temp than what I run them at (180F or so), they would begin to lose their magic.

**Q: What is the actual size?...Anybody counter sink these with forstner bit?...If so, what size bit?..Thanks!**
A: I used a 1.25" forstner bit and it was a fraction too small. Had to carve them out a bit too get the magnets to fit. These claim they're 1.26" in diameter and i believe that's accurate.

**Q: Will they work with a 1inch  piece of wood between them**
A: magnetic force dies off at the rate of about 1/r with r raised to the 4th power so the greater the 'r', the distance to the item attracted, then the attraction is reduced by a huge amount... Hold two magnets an inch apart and feel how week the force is between them, either attractive or repulsive, then try bringing them within an 8th of an inch of each other and see how the force increases!

**Q: Is there a trick for separating them? I struggle to pull them apart.**
A: I found sliding them off one at a time works best. Once you slide one off the top a couple of centimeters, you can separate them by pushing a thin piece of plastic between them - like a guitar pick or a tiddlywink.
