the fixture says 60w max regular candelbra base, can i put 100watt led in safely?

Part of the concern of incandescent bulbs is the heat created while you have the power on to the light fixture. This is partially why there is a limit of say, 60 watts to a light fixture. You have seen fixtures where the socket base has changed color or cracked, even broken. This is from the heat. With LED bulbs, the heat issue is almost completely gone. You can up your light output to that of a 100w bulb, but you are going to get a lot of light from that LED bulb. If the fixture has multiple bulbs in it, the combination of all those bulbs may make it very bright. This is ok if you have the fixture on a compatible dimmer. You can easily set the lighting you desire with the operation of a dimmer.

TRY IT! I have this lamp that I bought on impulse simply because I liked it. It is made to look like those older oil lamps, the shade is several panels with wolves on it with white and shades of blue. The lamp is all metal and has the three touch dimming affect. This came with filiment type bulbs which are no longer made and only available until the warehouses sell out. I was concerned that the LED bulbs may not dim in this fixture as the dimming circuit is of a older design. I tried a set of LED bulbs and it worked perfectly. No one can say for sure if yours will work, you will have to try it. Read the package and be sure it says DIMMABLE. If your dimmer is not compatible you can still use the bulbs as night lights.
