Hello, You would use a managed switch generally in a business setup. An unmanaged one basically looks after itself and you don't need to configure anything. A managed one you can control some of its features. If in doubt you don't need a managed switch.

Extending halo 3 to get more ports. can i use netgear gs308 8-port gigabit switch to extend bt halo 3? can i use cat 7 gigabit lan network rj45 cable?

It seems that a GS308 can be plugged into the ethernet port on the wifi extender, but note that the link sped and reliability will be limited by the wireless connection between the extender and the Smart Hub. The highest speed and reliability will be obtained when the GS308 is connected directly to the Smart Hub

I want to isolate a work pc from my network but still allow it to share the printer that is on my other network?

With this one you WILL NOT be able to.
This switch is non managed, which means you have NO POSSIBILITY to direct traffic only on the Physical ports you want.
What you want is a Managed Switch with VLANs (like the plus version of this model) which will allow you to send traffic from the computers to the printer and from the computers to the Internet gateway without the 2 computer communicating with each other.

Can you connect 2 of these together, my router to Switch No1 then CAT8 from Switch No1 to Switch No2 then connect my devices

You can daisy chain or cascade a number of NETGEAR switches since there is no limit on it. However, the good practice would be up to 2-3 switches daisy chained. Its because the more switch that you daisy chain will add latency on the network. The Netgear GS308 is a Gigabit switch, it is necessary to use Ethernet cables that are at least CAT5e.
