I did attach the braces to the running board first, then bolted it to the vehicle. Worry about the smaller braces 2nd or you will waste time. I tried to put it together in the (warm) house first but wasted lot of time hers also because I had to change some parts trying to put it on. Lay it all out by the vehicle first and you can figure it out pretty quickly. Don't tighten anything down until it's all put together. Very, very solid and looks absolutely terrific. The texture is like heavy roadmap. I thought it would be smooth on the ends, but it looks great that way. Directions say to wax it after installation. I was afraid of that because of what happens when you get wax on rough Rubber or vinyl surfaces, so I just used protectant (or tire shine). We love it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sturdy steps easy install *by L***E on September 29, 2023* Bought these for my 2 door JL. The install took a bit longer than I wanted, but really only took about an hour and a half. You do need to make sure that you tighten down every bolt very tight, otherwise these will move around on you. I’m about 240 pounds and I can put all my weight on these and jump up and down without them moving.
