Cotton gets wet , chafes, does not wick moisture and does not keep you cool. Synthetics do not wick well or evaporate well where there is no ability to breathe well. Thereby you are feeling wet all day. They also stink after half a day of wear. This wool shirt is super light, breathes well even under body armor, wicks moisture and has gone ( I hate to admit) 3 days without much body order. I can hand wash and within an hour it is dry (desert air helps with this). For me they are well worth the cost for the comfort. So far it seems to be durable. I am ordering more.The only down side (as I have commented) is the lack of appropriate colors for certain uniformed personnel.If this shirt can hold up in this environment it will hold up anywhere.
