Brand Story By CoverGirl Review: The Colors are Very Different in Person - COVERGIRL - Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Eyeshadow - Pure Romance I had some hesitation after opening the package and finding such a difference in the shades I received (see photo) and the shades I thought I had ordered. But after scanning the bar code (and trying very hard to read the teeny tiny white printing on a pale pink background on the back) I have come to the conclusion that I did not, in fact, receive the wrong colors. So while I was hoping for mauvey pink tones, what I got, as you can see, was a lot more lavender/purple with gray tones. I considered returning it, but figured since I'd gotten it at a good price, I'd give it a try, if I hated it, I'd pass it along to someone else. Well... to my surprise, I really liked it. The colors are sheer but just pigmented enough that you can put them on and see them on your lids without having to spend 5 minutes with a blending brush to tone down the color. So you can definitely build to the depth and amount of color that you want. The quality is very nice; it looked just as good at 5 pm as it did when I put it on. The colors are soft and creamy and go on easily. I didn't notice any smudging or fading. If it helps, I am fair-skinned with blue/gray eyes and cool undertones, and while I am not normally a fan of purple shades (I am much more comfortable with nude or neutral shades) because they tend to be too bright for me, I don't mind these. I am considering ordering some of the other shades, but hesitant since I don't know what colors I will actually end up with. But other than that, I would recommend them--but maybe check them out in a store first and see how the colors in the picture compare to the real thing.
