Great trimmed down, lightweight multitool with a good complement of tools.
One of my favorite Leathermans, I have many Leathermans, like a crazy person. All over the house, in every car and motorcycle plus i carry one everywhere i go for the last 30years…the original, Waves, wingman, surge, skellatool, Rebar, curl…Wave plus will beat this in almost every way. More and nicer tool selection on the wave, just look at it and you’ll see. The P2 is lighter and has easy access to all tools on the outside. The easy one hand opening for the pliers is the only reason to buy this over the wave. Fit and finish on the P2 is nicer as well. Another thing is no bit and micro driver so there’s no little pieces to loose. Also the plier handles close smaller on the p2 so it’s better for smallish hands. It’s definitely an amazing tool but the wave or wave plus is very hard to beat. If I am only allowed to have one it would be the Wave…or maybe the Surge however if you like higher end kit you may like the free series for fit and finish. One more to check out is the Leatherman Curl, looks like a wave without the saw and serrated blade and it’s a lot cheaper. No one ever talks about it but it’s awesome also has the same clip as the p2. Hope all this nonsense helps. Rock on!

good edc multi tool for most people
Opens easy, locks well, has enough tools for me. definitely built for lighter edc use and not something that’s meant to be used every day in an industrial setting, the magnets would attract some metal shavings for sure. all the tools in the handles open without needing to open the pliers. no issues with the magnets yet. pretty compact imo, If you want more than this tool has i’d suggest a wave plus.

Quality is top
Leathman quality can’t be beat. This is the model I prefer because of the number and type of tools and the fact that they are accessible without opening the pliers. The price is more than what 1 would want, but it’s worth it… Just barely.

Very good tool unfortunately it's discounted
It's a great tool and I got one before it's gone forever. 19 tools instead of the 21 my P4 which I prefer. I wish they kept the saw and serrated blade in the P2 but that's a small gripe.

Never has a company spoiled it's customers so much...
...that they'll complain endlessly about the most insignificant things when said company releases a new product. The Leatherman Free series is proof of that, especially the P2 and P4. Seems most people are either on the fence, or completely hate it, and it's usually over some minutiae like some random tab, or placement and shape of a certain tool. Be happy Leatherman does just what they're doing; making top quality multi-tools for just about anyone. That said, one negative to state. How hypocritical of me. To me, the P2 and P4 are not worth the $120 and $140 respectively. $80 and $100 seems more In the proper range. I used a gift card, so the price didn't sting as bad as it should have, but they are overpriced in my opinion. With that out of the way, I can say Leatherman makes the best multi-tools, but I've always had trouble finding one that's perfect for me, and honestly, I believe that model doesn't exist. But the P2 comes close. I've owned five Leatherman MT over the years: a PST, Sidekick, Skeletool, Micra, and now the Free P2. The first three are still going strong, passed on to a different set of hands, and the P2 is now my primary. After 3 months, no issues at all aesthetically or functionally, the tool opens with a slight flick to separate the magnets, and a quick flip and you're ready to go with the pliers. The pliers are stout with replaceable 154cm wire cutters. All other tools access from the outside, can be accessed one-handed, and every tool locks in place. Unlike the P4, the P2 comes standard with a removable deep carry pocket clip, although a company makes very high quality kydex sheet is for this model, and are available on Amazon. Aesthetically, the entire Free series maintains a classic LM look overall with a modern stylistic touch. Even after handling one, all of the bad reviews had me considering other options at one point. I guess I'm not seeing and feeling the downsides they did, or they're not nearly a big deal to start with. No major hotspots, improved ease of access, etc... All of this is relative to other similar products in the LM line. I find a lot to appreciate here. Maybe you will too.

Best leatherman ever made
This is the best leatherman ever made. I’m sorry, but all the people complaining about the magnets picking up metal shavings or the handles being uncomfortable are a bunch of babies. It’s a great size, love being able to access all the tools from the outside. The free technology is awesome, it’s awesome to flip the pliers open with one hand. I like that it doesn’t have the changeable bits because you never have to worry about losing parts or anything falling out. Let’s be honest, a multi tool will never replace real tools so we shouldn’t compare them to real tools. I carry this every single day and when you need a screwdriver, pliers, or knife quick you just whip this sucker out and it works great. It’s not as good as any tool in my bag but it’s the most used tool I own because It gets the job done every time I need it to. I wish it wasn’t discontinued! I’ve owned lots of multitools and this one is the one I’ve loved the most.

Butterfly Multitool!
I've been watching videos of this knife for months waiting for it to come out. Out of the whole FREE line, the P2 stood out as the one that could be my EDC without going overboard. The additional knife and saw with the P4 were not something I would use. And the fact that this is a combo blade is perfect. Out of the box, even the presentation was amazing. Like a major tech company showing off what you just bought. The first time I opened up the pliers, I laughed because I've never felt a tool like this since I was a kid with a cheap butterfly knife. Not to say it felt cheap, but that it was fun, made sense, and easy to use in one hand. I hope the photos add a little clarity about the sheath which was something I have not seen photos of yet. One note is that if you plan on using it, you will want to remove the clip since it doesn't fit with the snap. Also, the clip is a BEAST. Seems strong enough for a cordless drill. It's removable but cannot be put on the opposite side. In terms of function and tools, you know the rest! Plenty of videos out there but I will vouch for this being awesome. It feels great. The haptic feedback is real and adds to the experience. Overall, I'm impressed and I'll update after I get some hours of use with it.

Much more refined than past Leathermans
Very nice tool. I have owned multiple Leathermans in the past (mostly gifts), but I never really used them. This one is obviously a refined version of earlier models. Very well thought out, great fit and finish and a pleasure to use. Feels like a lot of thought went into how these tools are manipulated in hand and the result is a fine tool. I think it's considered a full size model, but definitely not too big for every day carry. Nylon sheath is good, but I went all out and ordered a leather one from American Bench Craft, specifically sized to this Leatherman - super nice product too.
