Drifting Classroom: Perfect Edition, Vol. 1: Volume 1

I didn't think I would like this because of the 'old' art (it's from the 70's) but it's actually very detailed and the story is riveting - I got through this massive and handsomely presented volume very quickly and immedeatly purchased the second tome. I can see why it's regarded as a classic. You get three of four volumes of a normal sized manga in this deluxe hardcover edition. It's a surreal horror about a junior high classroom, or rather the whole school transported to...the future? Another dimension? It all turns a bit 'Lord of the Flies'. The reveals and pacing could teach a lot to the often unnecessarily dragged out and poor value manga of today. There aren't that many horror manga around and this volume was ahead of anything I have read by modern day guys like Junji Ito or Gou Tanabe. It has its own kind of old faahioned art style where people look weird when they run but it grows on you and is very worked and detailed, especially for the era. Buy with confidence.

Good book could have been better most focus on the humans, I thought be getting attacked from monsters an such but only a giant cattapilla ide have had different monsters attacking but still good read

Kazuo Umezz é um dos pais dos mangás de terror, nesse titulo você entende a razão. A história começa muito bom, mas próximo do fim do volume, você vai vendo a famosa "barriga" aparecer. Edição muito boa, e arte espetacular, vale muito.

Been a fan of Junji Ito's work for a long time, and he apparently read these books when he was younger, and gathered inspiration from them. And while it's not as graphic as Ito's, it's still good. Artistically, it's cute in a way, old school anime style. I think the story is very interesting. It's an older book, but I still love it.

What an incredible story. I couldn’t put it down and got through all 3volumes over the weekend. Highly recommend this collection. The way emotions are felt the tension building and the difference in how fast adults lose it in comparison with the children. Lots of death/violence, danger, and resilience. It really has everything a story needs to be successful and satisfying to the reader.
