Perfectly usable if you can sharpen
Get your flat surface(shelf?) and 120 grit ready, because you will have to remove a lot of material to correct the poor factory quality control and get this flat. But once you do, it's a great tool for the price. Unlike what some of the other commenters seem to insist, it's completely possible with patience and determination. I spent about an hour or two getting this plane from the box into the state shown in my pictures. I think what the others were doing wrong was not starting on a low enough grit, because it would take forever to flatten this on a stone. I used 120 - 400 - 600 - 1000 - 1200 and stropped the blade, and it worked like a treat. The plane now shaves straight through walnut end grain, so I'm happy; that's honestly more than I expected to get. One note is that the logo is actually a sticker. I thought it was stamped or engraved but it fell right off, and now it looks cleaner without the logo.

received today. nice little block plane useable right out of the box --can be used for other purposed in the box as well. I used a sheet of 120grit wet/dry paper and a sheet of plate glass , after a few hundred strokes of sanding ,I was able to flatten the sole to my satisfaction..... no fear if you want to buy one -works well

WOW, WOW, WOW - Very High quality for the money
Amazing for what it cost. Was expecting cheap Chinese quality, but was surprised. Everything was well made and was of high quality. The block plane is very comfortable to use, produced clean uniform shavings. Wood buy again (pun intended)

Wasted 4 hours on this.
This plane arrived with grit all over it and the cap iron thumb screw was so tight, it needed a pliers to loosen it. After spending 4 hours to disassemble and clean it, flatten the sole and sharpen and hone the blade, it does not hold blade position no matter how tight the cap iron thumb screw is adjusted. The sharp end of the blade wanders side to side in the mouth and there is no way to control it. Even with a reasonable curve to the blade edge, one side or the other digs in and will not hold position. The lateral side to side adjustment at the back is sloppy. The plane is useless. Low angle planes intended for cutting end grain must hold a very thin cut. This plane will not do that. Returned for refund and I will not buy another from this brand.

Ok for first plane
Fits in the hand good. Adjustments are a little rough. Metal does not retain edge very well. Its ok for a first plane, just dont keep it to long. I would look for higher quality if you can afford it. Company has very poor customer service

I am not a woodworker but I did need a small Block Plane for a project. Being a novice, I went with the user ratings and bought this plane. It didn’t work out of the box but two minutes of sharpening on a fine Diamond Stone did wonders. I think I ended up with a very small 1° or 2° secondary bevel. It now works beautifully. It takes fine shavings. I think I will just make more shavings for the fun of it.

I was disappointed that I received a low angle plane instead of flat angle plane. The pictures of the product is misleading. That's the main reason I returned the item. On the other hand general quality is bad as the price suggests. The paint is leaked to the precision surfaces. That makes adjustments harder and unprecise. Also the mouth opening adjustment didn't allow me to make it very tight with the blade. Long story short, you will need to spend quite some time for setting it up nicely.
