Construction seems fine; does the job
I'm writing this mostly to counter some reports of poor construction. Mine arrived only yesterday, so my experience is limited. I put it on my softbox and then removed it, several times, without any problem. The connections (joints?) in the eggcrate are light but show no signs of coming apart. It fit pretty well on the softbox and the 2-inch grid does a nice job of directing the light. It does what it's supposed to be and is of adequate quality for an inexpensive accessory. I don't expect it'll fall apart under the light use I'll give it, never leaving my home studio. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to my starving photographer friends--or to all you strangers here on Amazon! It's cheap, it gives a nice effect on the inexpensive Fotodiox octa.

In comparison to the price I would have paid for a Bowens Luimiar 140 grid, this is a great product. Yes it is fragile so if you don't use care, it will break. The fit is good, and its ability to direct light is great. This thing could break and ill just reorder another; it would still be way cheaper than paying $400+ for Bowens brand name grid. I would highly recommend this product.

Finally a Grid that fits the Westcott XL Octabox!!!
Bought this for my WESCOTT XL OCTABOX. Fits easily with the Velcro fastener on to the inside edge of the modifier. Construction seems a little suspect, as a lot of others have said you have to gentle with it. I have not used it yet, but looks like it should perform well. This seems to be the only option for those who have the Westcott XL Octabox, so I want to save others some time from doing endless searching on the Web.

Its very fine, almost like paper so if you are rough ...
I toyed with making my own grid for my 48-inch softbox. Eventually broke down and ordered this one. Its very fine, almost like paper so if you are rough with the installation or removal, you can rip the tiny grid junctions apart. This requires a more delicate touch. Def does what a grid should do. Very happy with the lighting results.

Doesnt match the quality of the softbox itself
The softbox this company make in my opinion are great however these eggcrates are a waste of time. They are way too flimsy. They break at the slightest touch. They are made of that synthetic paper stuff and should be made of a fabric and stitched like the quality ones available out there. For this price and they are not cheap they are very poor value. Every one of these I own and I won over 6 in different sizes are broken in some way. It is a real pity as I love the convenience of the actual softboxes sold by the same company..

Passable fit, very fragile fabric
This grid is acceptable, but just barely. It fits loosely so the strips aren't tight - doesn't look too professional but still does the job. The fabric strips are very thin, and aren't sewn together at the joints but rather woven together so they can slip out of place. Best advice is to be VERY careful removing it - grab the velcro rather than the strips, and don't put any tension AT ALL on the grid itself while removing it.

Well built, EZ setup, terrific light
I have a few Fotodiox pieces in my kit and I like them all. This one though, is exceptional. All of the materials are heavy duty and assembled well. I think that this is going to last. The design is excellent too...it is really easy to "pop open", put in the two diffusers and shoot. I have the one with the Bowens mount and it fits onto my monolight easily. The grid is also well made and not "floppy". It's easily rigid enough to keep its shape. The light quality is what you'd expect from a double diffused 48" softbox. It wraps nicely and has soft shadow transitions. Exactly the same as any other 48" octa. If you're considering this, be sure you have a lightstand that will support it...it adds a lot of weight to the front of a stand. I use a Manfrotto stacker stand or a C stand with mine and still sandbag the base for safety.I also use Photek Softlighter II's which I also hold in the highest regard. I bought this Fotodiox softbox because I needed a gridded lightsource in my kit.

It does what it's supposed to do
For the price of this grid and the EZ Pro softbox I'm not complaining. It's very well built, it's rugged, and since stuff like this should be considered consumables (i.e. there's no point repairing them if they break) then the price is right. I use this with my Einstein light because the PCB "original" is way overpriced for what it's supposed to do. This is a very decent bargain that's got very decent quality. Where else will you find an "unmbrella" (foldable) softbox and grid for $120? I love never having to setup the softbox from scratch--the umbrella approach is awesome, and it's a real ocatgon softbox, not some strange "brolly box" that's available on Ebay. A highly recommended alternative to the PCB stuff.

Pro Studio Solutions EZ Pro Octagon softbox 48" Eggcrate - REVIEW
After purchasing the 48" Octagon softbox, I was really impressed with it. Not super high end stuff, but very good for the price. Wanted the eggcrate, but it was more than the 48" octagon softbox. Took a chance. It is like the reviews on Amazon.com say, poor materials. It showed up with one small tear, and after using it once, one more. So, not really road worthy, but with care in the studio, it should be ok. Shouldn't be too hard to fix, but wish it was made from better fabric. I'll make the best of it. On a better note, had a small unrelated issue with this transaction, and the seller (Fotodiox Canada) took care of it right away. Good customer service.

Very weak build that tears almost immediately
The fabric this is made out of is incredibly weak. Almost like a fibrous paper. It tore almost immediately with gentle use. And tore further when trying to separate the velcro from the box itself. Moreover, the assembly involves cuts in the strips that are not reinforced or even attached anywhere. Causing a direct weak point along these areas, tearing like paper. Definitely not a useable product.
