It’s “warm” as opposed to the more harsh light of incandescent lights, it has a kind of bluish tint to it. We really like ours, it’s pretty versatile with the 3 different settings.

Do you need to remove the light when you close the umbrella?

If you want to close the umbrella tightly I think you would need to remove the lights. It’s very easy to do. If you only want to bring it down loosely I think you could leave the lights on. I always leave mine open.
