Does it have to be sprayed-on? I'd like to apply using a paint brush.

Yes you can brush it on but may need to make more coats to get the thickness right. Honestly I think I would roll it on if you didn't want to spray it.

It says it is black but truthfully it is really just dark grey....not true black.
