Sleep Mask 2 Straps, Mulberry Silk, Twin Thin Elastic Bands Stay Put All Night, Smooth Eye Mask Two Adjustable Head Strings and Nose Baffle

I read a lot of reviews of different sleep masks before taking a chance on this one. I am a light sleeper and also have insomnia. I really wanted something that would block light because any little help I can get... When I took it out of the package, it felt so soft, smooth and lightweight. Wonderful feel in the hands but I wasn't sure if it would be thick enough to block the light. My bedroom windows face east and although I have mini blinds, a pull-down shade and curtains, light still gets through when the sun is coming up. If I happen to open my eyes a little during the sleep cycle and catch a bit of light, I find it very hard to go back to sleep no matter how tired I am. Then I'm cranky the rest of the day. That hasn't happened since using this sleep mask as it blocks out light completely. It covers from the top of my forehead to my lower cheeks and no light seeps under or through the mask. Last week, I was able to take a good nap on the couch during the day with the mask on. I've now been using it for over a month and I won't sleep without it. It hasn't cured my insomnia but it's definitely helped me stay asleep longer. Also deeper it seems I am a side sleeper and tried a cushioned mask before but because the pillow would press in on the side of the mask, it would make the mask shift on my face. Since this one is only lightly padded and more flat, it stays put and doesn't come off at all, even when I've been tossing & turning. The two straps make it very easy to adjust the fit. I was initially concerned about the mask pressing against my eyelids. It does but only lightly, depending on how you adjust it, I guess. I can still open my eyes if I want to but the light pressure actually just feels like my eyelids are heavy and weirdly enough, it helps me stay asleep. I recently went on an overnight trip and slept in our camper, which is too usually bright in the morning, but I took the mask with me and it made a huge difference. I am probably going to get a second one just to leave in the camper because I would hate to forget it. Maybe a third for my travel bag. When I say I don't want to sleep without it, I really mean it. The quality of the mask is excellent. No fraying, tearing, or coming apart at the seams. Like I said, I've only been using it for over a month, maybe a month and a half but I can't see this thing falling apart very easily. Wearing it every night has had no ill effects on my skin, which tends to be oily. I think the silk lets the skin breathe and though I haven't worn it during the summer months yet, it doesn't seem like it'll make my face hot. The straps are comfortable and the buckles to adjust the fit are tiny and lay flat, like the ones on a bra strap. I have long hair and haven't had it get tangled in the straps or buckle. This mask is so comfortable to wear, I highly recommend it.

Good product and succeeded in working as I hoped. Unlike most the primary need and use is more protect my eyes as I have received corneal transplants in addition to plastic retinas which leaves me somewhat with Tonic Pupils. Mainly very slow to react to light changes. Due to the corneal transplants I also put sodium chloride gel in the eyes at bedtime. So my use is three-fold. 1) Protect my eyes from rubbing on the pillow, blanket, and at times rubbing an itch which happens a lot and painful as it will rupture tiny water blisters which sting unbelievably for hours. If you need gory details…Search Fuch’s Dystrophy. This is the primary need which it worked great. It is also why I reviewed this. It fills a niche need many people may have. 2) Keeps the goop in the eyes as well and not on pillows etc. 3) It also works very well as intended. Others seem to enter my bedroom as I am on my back facing the ceiling and light, first opening the door which wakes me up, secondly flipping on the light. Leaving me feeling like lasers burning the back of my eyes. It doesn’t happen often. Generally more often than I want. It doesn’t take much light actually. I wanted to give this 5 stars and would have except for me, it seemed to let in a small bit of light around the nose only noticeable until I turned off the light. I have a few little lights that shine at night. Mainly my TV has a background light displaying Vizeo in case I forget the brand during the night, a charger, and clock display. For me it is really a non issue. I keep the room like a tomb and what light my eyes do adjust anyway. But next time I might try the added nose piece if it matters. Outside of that It block all light, stayed on, wasn’t too tight after I adjusted it. One strap above the ears and the lower strap below. It was snug, but not so loose it would move around. I plan to recommend it to the eye surgeon and a few message boards. Everyone complains, but so far I haven’t seen or heard anyone try it. It is maybe a very small intimate group of people to pander to, but it is also a group that often has suffered through several years of increasing eye pain often not realizing what is causing it. EDIT.. Second night ...no light at all comes through. This is my first and only mask I have tried and really does what I need. It is well made, fits nice without being too tight or hot. I give it the extra star it deserves. It is probably more a matter of adjustment. Those that say it is too tight or too loose probably need to adjust to where it is simply snug. If it was too tight against my eyes, I would know! After two nights I wonder what I did without it! I have little cones that I could place between the mask and eye to prevent it perhaps, but I haven't needed them. My son was able to come in at 3 am, turn on the light to locate what he needed without pain in total darkness make life a little easier for him as well as myself. It does little to deaden the noise, but I am retired and I can live with that. In addition to above I also wonder how well it would work at this time of year for those that have issues with pollen and perhaps pet dander etc. I don’t have this problem, but maybe someone can comment if they used it for that purpose or as an additional advantage.

My favorite sleep mask! It’s so comfortable and silky soft , along with the design totally blocks out all the light. The two straps are great to secure better. I have it very loose for comfort but it still doesn’t move around much at all. Great price as well. I love all the products fun Alaska Bear!

I'll start by saying this is easily the best sleep mask I've worn to date on the comfort and the "stay the hell on my head while I thrash throughout the night" factors. Though the dual strap IS specifically there to help with the latter. 4 stars because I think there still might be something out there that's perfect. But for now, this is as close to that mark as you'll get. On the topic of the dual strap, the most important feature of this mask in comparison to others I'd say as it's a title feature, it most assuredly does its job of keeping the mask on your head. I've woken few nights where the top strap may roll up off the top of my head but the bottom strap is steady Eddie the whole night long. The clasps on the straps are like others have stated, essentially even smaller versions of what you'd find on a bra. I don't notice them at all while wearing them and I keep my hair fairly short. I have a large head, no getting around it, and my only irk with the dual straps is that I don't feel like there's a really good home for each of them on my head. Putting one strap under the ear and one over like the image shows just doesn't work because the straps then rub close on the top and bottom of the base of my ears and putting them both over my ears is way less secure and I'll end up with the aforementioned rolling off the top of my head more often wearing the mask this way. I generally end up positioning the top strap slightly lower than squarely behind my eyes with the bottom pulled just over the top strap in a criss-cross fashion, which has worked the best for me. The part that touches your face, the mask itself, is reeeeeally soft. It's a nice satin finish that's just oh so nice to feel on the skin but also doesn't get Satan's taint hot throughout the night like other cloth alternatives. And the size is so much better than other masks I've used as it actually covers all of my eyes and further down the cheekbones, which prevents light from entering in underneath the mask. It stays pretty snug against your face but I have no issue opening my eyes with it on even with the giant cow eyelashes I was gifted in life. I wouldn't say it's as roomy as the Bucky 40 blinks, which has an actual structure to the mask that keeps it from touching your eyes, but the trade off is that it's more comfortable for tummy and side sleepers, which I am, heavily. All in all, excellent mask, A+. As I said in the opener it's as close to perfect as you'll get right now. I'm sure the single strap product is just as comfortable, if a touch less secure. But you'd avoid the dual strap quandary I find myself in, and I imagine some might just find the single strap more comfortable than the dual setup. Nothing wrong with that, it's 2016. You do you.

I received the Alaska Bear 2 strap sleep mask a few days ago, and couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. After reading the reviews on the other site and recognizing that I toss and turn in bed, I opted for the two strap unit. This is my first sleep mask I've ever used, and I purchased it so that I could block out the bedside light when my wife reads before bed, as well as to take on camping trips. While I haven't taken this camping, I feel that it will perform well under those conditions. Pros: -Lightweight, comfortable silk mask that does not interfere with R.E.M. sleep/eye movement. -Mask stays in place all night long. -Blocks out even strong light. I can have the bright master light on and still go to sleep. This will come in handy during camping expeditions, too. -Straps are easily adjustable, and with a bit of playing, you can get a conformation that works for you. I prefer having the top strap tighter than the bottom. -I actually sleep better and deeper! The first night I tried it, I had a really truncated sleep schedule. I normally need about 8 hrs sleep to feel rested. I went to bed around 1:30 am and woke up around 5:45 am feeling just as rested as 8 hrs of sleep! WOAH! I just used it for the second night, and while I went to bed earlier, I still woke up more refreshed than without the mask! -Construction appears sturdy. I believe that this will last and stand up to many nights' use and the rigors of travel. Cons: -Sits pretty heavy on the nose and leaves a red mark on the nose. It goes away an hour or so after taking off the mask. It might be that I have a strap too tight, so I think this is solvable. I'm very pleased with my purchase! Thank you for making an excellent product. Update 3/2/17: The Alaska Bear customer service team helped me find a better fit for my physiology. I have a very thin face and prominent nose, and I had to pull the regular mask tight to block light from coming through the bottom of the mask, which caused the redness. Alaska Bear suggested that I try the same model with a nose baffle. It works perfectly; I can wear the mask a bit looser and no more redness! I've tried so many sleep masks, and this is by far the best. The fabric is very soft, and does not trap heat. I've tried other masks that I could not keep on because of the heat issues. My eyes are very dry (medical condition), so I had 2 issues to overcome looking for a sleep mask: pressure and heat. I found that one-strap masks put too much pressure on my eyes. The 2 straps are very comfortable. The adjustable clips are very small, but hold for a snug fit. I do not feel them at all because the straps are higher and lower than where my head rests. This is the first mask that stayed on all night, which I think is amazing. It is larger than other sleep masks I've tried, and I think that contributes to it staying on all night. I have found that sleep masks actually do help maintain sleep, esp that ambient light seems unavoidable. I have also been amazed by the great customer service of Alaska Bear. I received an e-mail asking if I was satisfied with the mask. I had used it a few days and was already convinced it was the best sleep mask. I wrote that I was more than satisfied with the mask, but my only issue was dealing with prescription eye drops that I need before I sleep. I thought I should look into the Alaska Bear contoured cup mask, to avoid the fabric getting wet from the eye drops. Then I received a reply that they could send me the contoured cup mask if I was willing to give that a try. I just received it today and have not yet used it for sleep, but my initial thoughts are that I like the original 2-strap mask better because it's softer. To make the eye area contoured (shaped outward so the fabric doesn't touch the eyes), the fabric is a little stiffer. It fits great and has 2 straps, but the original one is so soft. It's hard to top perfection! I plan to order a back-up because now I can't sleep without it! Thank you Alaska Bear!

Edit (12/2017): Since my original review (retained below), they have added a "nose baffle" to the 2-strap version. It definitely improves the light situation so I've added a star. Unfortunately, I find that it tickles my nose (obviously bad for sleep) if it's not "folded under" so it rests against the bridge of my nose. This is a lot more hassle than the 1-strap that blocked light without the baffle. Despite my complaints, I continue to re-order this item as the best available 2-strap. I first tried Alaska Bear's products because there was a deal on the 1-strap version. I was really happy with the size and fit of the 1-strap -- it did a really good job blocking light. I also like the silk, very comfortable on my skin. Unfortunately, 1 strap versions don't work for me because (1) it sits uncomfortably on my ears and (2) it slid around on my face too much (sometimes around my neck, sometimes off my head when I woke). I had used 2-strap masks in the past and was hoping this would be the best of both worlds -- it's not. This mask doesn't sit snugly in the eye sockets. Instead, light streams in around the nose. I gave the 1-strap away, but I'm pretty sure the 2-strap is larger which may explain why. The mask doesn't slide around so that's a plus, but the whole point is to block the light.

This is the 3rd sleep mask I have owned. The previous 2 came from a different company & they only lasted 3 months before they began to rip & tear. They were just not very good quality. The Alaska Bear 2 straps natural sleep mask is fantastic. It is super soft & the 2 straps stay in place which is a miracle because I thrash around a lot. I was worried when I ordered it that it would be too big for my petite (or as my doctor not so nicely calls my "abnormally small head") but it fits really well. The straps are adjustable so if you have a normal or larger head it would fit you as well. The other great thing is it completely blocks out the light. My hall light needs to be on for my children at night & it shines really bright in my room but with this mask on I can't even tell its on. Its great for a day sleeper too, I have narcolepsy & chronic fatigue syndrome so I frequently nap during the day & it keeps all the sunlight out as well. Another nice thing is it doesn't push down on your nose like some other brands do (my previous masks did that making it very difficult to breathe), but it still manages to keep the light out. It really is super comfortable & so very soft which is my favorite feature. Its super easy to keep clean because it comes with a little bag to store it in. It also came with ear plugs but I can't really say much one way or the other about those since I don't use them. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quality mask that stays put no matter how much you move.

Spännena borde vara bredare och rejälare – nu glider de upp eller ner och måste justeras flera gånger under natten. Ändå vaknar jag med en mask som flyttat sig så att ljus släpps in genom gliporna som uppstått. Annars ok, men måste finnas bättre sovmasker där ute.

I got the 2 strap with nose baffle. Fulfilled by Amazon, sold by Alaska Bear. It is so very soft & extremely comfortable now that I’ve cut the bottom strap off! I tried their 1 strap version but I found the placement of the strap pulled the mask too tightly across my eyes. The placement of the top strap on this is perfect for me. The strap is thin & really comfortable, I don’t know it’s there. ( I part & lift up hair as if I’m going to do a small half pony, then I put the strap under there & it stays put. Also has the benefit of not giving you ‘mask strap hair’ in the morning ;-) The clasps are plenty strong enough, I’ve no idea what on earth happened to the poor persons mask where it is pictured broken in a review, I can only assume it was either faulty, or said person went a few rounds with Mike Tyson in their sleep! Either way, on my mask they are small but strong ... let’s just say if they managed to sustain enough trauma to break whilst I was wearing it I would be more worried about the state of my head than my mask!! So far my head, and mask is fine, they don’t dig in- can’t feel them at all. I was worried it would be too warm as I get migraines and generally need cool for those. But mostly this is fine. If I need it cooler with a headache I just put a koolpak on my forehead over top for a while, or lay one on the pillow if on my side. That trick works well in the summer too. If you can see light underneath it just scrunch the nose baffle up & under a bit more to fill in the gaps. ... someone commented that the flap covered their nose and interfered with breathing.... I am, in a word, baffled, (pun intended) It goes up and under, not down, it is to cut out light, not oxygen, dear! Cutting the bottom strap off does mean you need to readjust from time to time as you stir & turn, but I’ve never met a mask that didn’t need this. I’m a side and back sleeper so Every mask shifts, because I shift! But this one is soooooooooooooo comfy! And such a good price point too! I now have backups so I can wash them & still wear while It’s drying!
