### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Deer Run Trail leads you to enjojmeñt.

*by B***O on November 22, 2015*

My daddy started me reading zane grey when I was twelve years old. Later I found Louis l'amour and now own every novel he ever wrote most all of them I have read more than once and some three or four times. I say this because.I want the author to realize I have read some.good westerns. Mr Lewis writes different than most western writers. He has the ability bring the lead.character out early. As he moves along you the reader get to meet know and understand his friends and love interest. A really well crafted story written with a sense of humor that shows up at all the right times. 53 years after reading my first western I find a story teller with a good story to tell and he tells it very well. A great read for a person that wants to be entertained. If I could grade this book more than a five I would.of humorous that

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The trail to Manhattan

*by B***N on November 3, 2015*

I did not expect much when reading this book . Since it was free so I downloaded it to read on the train to Manhattan to work. The book was so well written, the story was so interesting, I could not wait to get on the train so I could continue to read it. At beginning, the dialect was a litle hard to follow since English is my second language. However, it did not take long for me to pick it up. I'm on the second book of this series now. The train ride is no longer a waste of time but so wonderful thanks to this well written book.Mr. Lewis, thank you for making your readers life a little bit richer with this series.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful western!

*by L***N on March 16, 2016*

A new-to-me western author, this is one of the best stories I've read in a long, long time. Readers should be aware this isn't written with regular dialect. When I first started reading, I groaned, thinking it was going to be one of those where the characters all sounded stupid and/or didn't know how to talk. Not so. They talk like you would expect them to during this time period and where they came from. A bit of a challenge at first, once you get the hang of it, it all comes together to make the story more realistic. The characters are so real and the descriptions are terrific. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Ruben who was a good kid, quickly becoming a man. The secondary characters were colorful, funny, annoying, overall outstanding. The book was full of surprises, lots of good guys, bad guys, a dash of romance and real life type events. The humor between the characters seemed so natural, it made me laugh out loud numerous times. You were with Ruben when he discovered the wonders of ready made clothes or how the cute gal in the town restaurant wasn't what she appeared to be. Or when Marion and Ruben were talking and Marion told him what a damn shame it was what they did to the Indians and buffalo. Things like that made it very down to earth and realistic. My only complaint. I didn't see the need for the f word. The other cursing didn't bother me and there aren't that many times it was used, but I felt it was unnecessary. Already started on the Nodaway Trail and can't wait to read the rest of the series.
