Perfect First Step Into an Amplified World
Vinyl is a marginally new world to me. I played around with albums when I was a kid/young teen, but I really didn't understand what I was listening to. My ear wasn't yet refined. As I progressed in life, I started to understand what good tone was, and how to care for delicate things to keep them nice.In my newfound vinyl hobby, I mostly relied on internal phono preamps, or those built into the receivers I was using. Man, I really didn't know what I was missing...I've heard about the virtue of using an independent preamp but didn't really think much of it until recently. I did a little bit of research, and was leaning on getting the Schiit Mani when I came across this far less popular option, the Parasound Zphono. I can say that this guy has definitely rounded out the sound of my albums and brought several of them back to tonal life. I am VERY impressed by the expansion of sound this unit provides. Crisp highs and a far deeper bass than I'd previously experienced. The only complaint that I have is that it's always on. As such, it's always got a live feed rolling from the stylus to the sound equipment, even when the Audio Technica LP120X is turned off. I'm going to invest in a power strip with a switch this week.Overall, this is a fantastic first step into expanding your sound. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. I imagine as I progress further down this rabbit hole, I'll always have this guy connected to a turntable somewhere.

Budget System Must Have
Parasound just makes great quality equipment. If you are putting together a budget vinyl system, you really cannot go wrong with this phono preamp. Sounds great, doesn't take up much room, and just sits there and does it's job.

Purchased for the arriving Rega Planar 2.
Purchased the Parasound for the Planar 2 that I ordered on Friday which arrives Monday. The Parasound TT Pre-Amp arrived today on a Sunday good ole Prime:-)For a test run I decided to go ahead and hook it up to my current Turntable the Audio Technica LP60.And WOW it made the records sound improve on the LP60. I don't have much experience with Pre-Amps at all. But my ears were quite happy and let me tell you this thing rocks I get more sound from this bad boy than I do from the built in Amp on the LP60.One down side to this Parasound Pre-Amp @ the $199 price range is it doesn't have any buttons what so ever not even a power button to power it off & on.So the pre-amp just stays on 24/7 and the green LED light shines continuously. It isn't over bright but still a reminder that it's powered on all the time. The Parasound USB model which is $50 more allows for 2-Inputs instead of 1 and has USB and also has a power button so this alone may be good enough reason to just spend the extra $50 just for the power button and extra input.Otherwise I can't say good enough things about this pre-amp I had read positive reviews and positive personal reviews on this model and I am happy I spent my hard earned clams on this model gets great sound for the price I don't think there could be any better?

45db gain awful
This thing has a 45db gain. Your music will sound every bit as loud as your modern CDs.

Five Stars
This is a really nice phono preamp. Definately sounds better than the Cambridge I had been using.

Good Basic Phono Preamp
I have had this item for about a year. It performs as expected. I have used both types of cartridges, MM (Moving Magnet) MC (Moving Coil) With good results. It is very well built and looks good. The only improvements I would like to see is the ability to change the loading factors, impedance and capacitance but to be honest I have not run into any problems as of yet.

Outstanding
I have never had a phone section this good. The price was good, and my vinyl has come back to life.

Muy buen producto
Muy buen sonido, precio económico. Tuve un poco de problema con lograr disminuir el ruido de fondo. Mi problema era el lugar donde lo coloqué, muy cerca del amplificador.Lo recomiendo
