Works well. Took some time to learn the flow rate etc. The product does what you need it too and spreads pretty consistently one you get the hang of it. My only gripe is that the arm support thing gets pushed in quite frequently which adds more weight on your wrist. (My poor wrist) all in all great product and super easy for beginner landscapers

This seems to do what it is designed for, although it says it works with ice melt, the crystals are various sizes and occasionally the wheel doesn't want to spin because of a jam. Spinning backwards or powering through has worked to clear it every time. Overall, spreads fairly evenly and is easy to use. One change I've made is it recommends setting 5 for salt/ice melt. I've worked my way back to 3 as the bin empties mighty fast on 5 and I'd rather do multiple passes and evenly spread rather than running out in just a minute or two. This is definitely not ambidextrous use. You must hold the handle (with arm "wrest") with left arm and spin with right. As a lefty, not my most comfortable but it works just fine and I'm fairly ambidextrous. If you are majorly left arm dominant, this might not be the spreader for you.

Works Great, even though it's plastic. Can't say if it will be durable, but the last one (also Scotts) lasted 25 years. Seems to be made well.

Works on 2000 sq foot lawn, Turning the crank backwards causes an edge so you can spread parallel to the planting beds with very little stray weed and feed getting in. Holds enough Scotts granules for about 700 sq feet at a time based on the weed and feed with crabgrass control directions of lbs per area. I like the idea there isn't much left over and that I can just walk and whirl. Makes it easy. The trigger and rate controls are simple and work well. The only issue was the wrist support arm kept retracting. The positive stop isn't too positive.

This review is for the Scotts Whirl Hand-Powered Spreader. I had a no name brand spreader that I used for years, but it finally gave up the ghost and I needed to replace it. I looked for various solutions and was surprised at how few there were. I came across the Scotts Whirl Hand-Powered Spreader at both the big box stores (you know, the orange one and the blue one?) and they both carried this model but the price seemed too high for me to consider it. But when I found the exact same model on Amazon for half the price of the cheapest of the big box stores I decided to order it. Now, the build quality is very good and it seems sturdy. I've used it with Weed and Feed and since the hopper was larger than the spreader I had before I was worried about supporting the weight. But the extendable brace provides a forearm support that makes it fairly comfortable. The only issue I have is that I'm left handed and I'd like to have someone design these products so that they could be used by either hand. But that's just a wish. Overall the product is excellent and I expect it to give me years of great service.

I liked the way the spreader makes it easy to get even distribution over a large area. I have used it for both fertilizers and grass seed and like the way you can adjust distribution rate. The only downside is that it is difficult to restrict coverage to a defined area. You would need to be careful if you did not want a lawn treatment going over a nearby flower border etc. Overall, good value product that seems well built and makes spreading products easier.

I like to spread by hand as opposed to a wheeled spreader. This hand held allows me to direct the fertilizer where I want it specifically. So it does that and keeps the spread product out of my shoes. It works well and is easy to clean upon finishing.
