The trap works great and Ebung customer service is even better!
Ok, it took a while for me to spend this much money on a rat trap, but after two months of battling the worlds smartest rat, I surrendered and placed my order. The rat was a roof rat and I spent months trying to get him with snap traps baited with peanut butter, nuts, fruits, nesting material and anything else I could think of. He clearly knew what a trap was and avoided them; though he left his calling cards all around them. My trap arrived quickly and was easy to assemble. Before it arrived, I received and email from Ebung with a new pdf version of the manual. I confess I ignored it. I spent a couple days baiting the trapping area with a few sunflower seeds to get my rat used to the food. Then I put some in the trap but did not arm it; they were gone the next day so I armed the trap. The lights did not operate the way the written manual that came with the trap indicated, so I assumed my trap was broken. I sent Ebung an email describing the problem and I received a reply within two hours from Susan. Susan, in a very kind and gracious way, asked if I had received the new user manual that they had sent via email when I ordered the trap. Ahhhhhhh, yeah, I guess I did..... So I read the manual and surprise!! The trap lights were working exactly as they should. I put out the trap that night and found my rat dead in it the next morning. Worked like a charm on a very cagey rat!! In summary: 1) The Ebung trap works great and is very effective at doing what it was designed to do. 2) Ebung customer service (at least Susan) responds quickly and are very helpful at solving your issues. 3) Read the manual that they take the time to send you before the trap arrives! :)

Does not work, too late to return
The problem with devices like this is - it's hard to tell if you got a nonfunctional device or if you used the wrong bait or if the rat is too smart. You can't really put your hand in to see if the 7000V actually works. Only way to confirm is for a rat to go inside, eat the bait and leave unharmed. It too over a month for this to happen in my case and by then I was outside the 30 day return window. My problem was the large number of tree rats (aka roof rats) in our Oakland neighborhood where most people have fruit trees. They climb trees, jump onto trees, etc just like squirrels but are really nocturnal rats with large ears and eyes. In my case, they completely decimated the figs on my large fig tree. I tried all kinds of bait initially with the ebung device that I read about online for roof rats - dried fruit, nuts, berries, peanut butter, etc. But these rats left it untouched. I tried lot of the things reviewers here recommended - replaced batteries frequently, switched from battery to direct power, moved it to different locations where I've seen them travel, concealed the LED light that might be spooking them, used fresh bait every night, used gloves so I don't leave my scent, etc. Finally I just left the bait in the device but left it turned OFF. The rats then started coming in and eating the bait. So something about the sound of the device maybe, that is spooking them? I would see the rats every evening, scampering along my fence, jumping on the tree and eating the figs right in front of my eyes. I finally left this ON with battery power, strapped it to the ledge on the fence which they use as their 'highway'... till one day, they got inside, ate the bait and left while it was still powered on. That's when I was absolutely certain that the problem is a broken device. And I was just outside the 30 day return window by then. What an absolute waste of money. My advice to anyone buying this - try it for the first few weeks and return it if you're not able to catch any rats.

Mice Ick!
Living in the woods, Iโve come to terms with sharing my space with wildlife. However, the mice under my deck werenโt paying rent, and the roaming cats were falling behind on their extermination duties. Enter this Electric Mouse Trap. A true game changer in the battle of human vs. mouse! First off, this thing is shockingly effective (pun intended). It zaps intruders into oblivion faster than you can say โvermin eviction.โ Itโs humane but firm. Like a no-nonsense bouncer for your deck party. The setup was a breeze, and the results were immediate. I woke up the next morning to what I can only describe as โExhibit Aโ in the great mouse mystery. It truly does its job well! Now, the cats? Theyโre relieved. Theyโve been freed from the stress of overtime hunting and can finally enjoy their naps uninterrupted. As for me, I sleep soundly knowing this zapper is on patrol. Also, disposal is a breeze! Just slide the little troublemakers out easily and dispose of them without ever having to touch the evidence! If youโre dealing with uninvited furry mouse or rat guests, this trap will give you the upper hand, and a newfound appreciation for modern technology. I Highly recommend it for anyone living in the woods or feeling like Snow White in reverse!

Great Trap but the Alarm in a Huge Problem
UPDATE 10/19/2019 I successfully defeated the beeping by pulling the PC board and filling the little speaker thing with rubber cement. However, when I put it back together the battery cover kept falling off rendering it unusable. What a pain!!! Finally solved that issue by inserting a small sheet metal screw from the outside of the housing to just over the top of the cover. That worked and now the trap is back in service and catching a rat every night. Functionally the trap is great but my review stands at three stars only because I should not have had to do all ath fixes. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ First, I have to say that this rat trap works as well as advertised. Being in a desert environment south of Tucson we have Pack Rats and they are quite the nuisance. On the day it arrived I baited it with a dad of peanut butter on a piece of tin foil that was molded to the shape of the bait tray. The foil was used in an attempt to prevent a messy bait tray. The trap was then placed in a secluded area of our patio and within an hour of the sun setting, I could hear it beeping and saw the green light flashing I got my first rat. The next day, the same thing as well on the third day and then a small mouse. Figured all was well. After each kill, I just reached down and shut the unit off planning on disposal the next morning when we had light and I didn't want the beeping to go all night. As it turned our the first three rats and a mouse must have been all the local residents and didn't have any more activity for three days. Now the problems began which resulted in a three-star rating vs. the five I was planning. Late in the evening, a visiting rat showed up around 3 am and triggered the trap. No problem with the kill but it turns out the trap location right outside our open bedroom window and our neighborhood is extremely quiet at night and the beeper is loud enough to awaken me (and potentially my neighbor).from a sound sleep. So, here I go looking for a flashlight and shoes at 3 in the morning so I can go outside and turn off the trap. I have not set it since. Now I'm in a quandary, pitch it and buy a different trap or try to defeat the beeper. Today I will attempt to disable the trap and attempt to defeat whatever is used for the beeper Overall, this trap is great but be aware that the audible kill alert can potentially be a huge issue.

It works but incessant trigger beeping
Update 11/25/19: The first kill for some reason didn't set off the sound alarm so I didn't know there was an alarm. It's 2 am and I'm quite unhappy to be awake because of the loud incessant beeping. Maybe a few courtesy beeps would have been ok but beyond that why? An alarm on a trap? The indicator light is enough. I will dread being woke in the middle of the night again for such a task. I hate that I need this. But it is winter, and it would be terribly inhumane to catch and release mice this time of year. Hypothermia would be an awful way for them to suffer and die anyway. Then there's poison which is another awful cruel way to go. Unfortunately it's unsanitary and can be life threatening to have them in your home. So here we have the most humane option. The trap works. I put a peanut with a drop off peanut butter to secure it in the bait spot. Took a couple days but the mouse went for the bait and got zapped.

I'm impressed! Most humane way to remedy a rodent problem.
Discovered we had critters in our new home. My cats managed to catch 3 mice, but then we found a critter of a larger species. I freaked and called an exterminator. The exterminator in our major metro city wasn't available for TWO weeks. I figured it would be costly and likely require snap traps or poison which I'm not a fan of. So, I turned to our beloved Amazon and found I could have this unit delivered SAME DAY! It arrived by 9pm along with the D-cell batteries I'd need since I didn't want to try to run the plug to an outlet. Loaded the little inside tray with peanut butter and some bird seed, set it in the corner under the cabinet where I knew the beast was hiding, and waited. The red light blinked every 10 seconds reassuring me that it was on and ready. Later the next morning I arrived home to a not-terribly-irritating binging sound. The light on the unit was flashing green. I peeked inside, and there was a little guy of the smaller species. Knowing how smart rats are, I wondered if it knew about the demise of the little one and correlated it to the smell of peanut butter. So, I headed over to my big box hardware store and stumbled upon Tomcat rat bait--some sort of gel that claims to be more effective than peanut butter. Picked it up for $5, put it in the little tray in the Zapperator 3000 (my pet name for the unit), and by 9pm we had that large beast caught and zapped. I do have compassion for those fellas which is why I wanted something that wasn't cruel. But they carry diseases, which is why I don't want to co-habitate with them. Also, RAPTORS are a real thing, and they are dying because they are eating poisoned rodents. So the Zapperator 3000 does the necessary job in the best way possible. TIP: Someone suggested to me that I wear gloves when handling the unit so that human scent isn't all over it. Made sense to me. I wiped it down outside and in with a soapy solution before and after each use wearing gloves. Also, make sure you set it up so pets and kids can't stick paws, noses, fingers inside. I put a potted plant next to it. BONUS: the clean kill keeps the body in tact and I let my kid put on gloves and see what a rat looks like up close. Good luck!

It takes time to work ,but it does work
The unit does work ,it nailed one big rat , but it also missed the first one , it got in, I still don't know why or how it survived to get out . But its running 50/50 so I'm happy with that. It does work and it does give you a beeping notice that you got one , I really like that. It says the batteries are good for 40 rats , I'll let you know. I'm quite pleased with the unit ,its in place right now. The price isn't so bad once you weigh it against the damage one of these varmits can cause. So actually the price is pretty cheap , its compact ,simple to operate ,simple to clean, simple to bait, a great little unit.

Killer Job๐ก
I bought another rat zapper a month priorTo this one, it killed 2 rats and quit working. It was clean as new just would not make contact anymore. It became a Resturant. So I bought this one thinking we just had a bad one and the Second one did not work at all. Too late to return the first one, so we bought this one thinking it will work, it was another Resturant! The electronic ones are not working well so we now have big wooden traps in our horse barn. Bait with Slim Jim my exterminator said. Yup love it. They ate through a plastic rapper on a horse mineral block with Rabon now our barn stinks of dead rat we can not find. I really wished the second one would do the trick but it was returned after a week. Why such good reviews? I trusted buyer reviews

Poor instructions and incorrect switching.
Instructions are for a similar model, Clear door is mentioned in the instructions, this model has none. The on/off switch is wrong. It turns ON in the OFF position and visa versa.

Dead on Arrival and can't seem to be able to return.
Faulty unit, DOA. Trying to return but only return is via Couriers Please and there is no drop off locations anywhere when using the drop off page. Tried my postcode, Brisbane, even Sydney but nothing shows up. It looks like they don't want you to be able to return for refund.

Kills small rodents instantly
Our cat brought in baby rat then dropped it in the kitchen and the rodent hid behind the fridge. Armed the Ebung Electric Trap and used some nice clotted cream biscuit as bait. Within a few hours the rodent had been zapped and is no more !
