I have a very high instep and thought at first I wouldn't get them on at all, but I persevered and got my foot in eventually. Wore them for half an hour indoors, they came off without trouble, and second wearing - 4 hours outside - they went on no bother. and were warm and comfortable. The legs are great - stay up, very water resistent for snow etc. and are cosy without feeling suffocating. The boots are a bit wide round the ankle and do slop a bit, not widee in the leg thougn, even with the straps loosened, so not much room to tuck in thick trousers or if you have thick calves. One of these days I'm gonna walk right over you.Except I shall buy a smaller size next time. Otherwise very comfortable but only waterproof up to the ankle. The material of the leg of the boot is not waterproof. So when I wash the mud off, my sock gets wet - or should I say socks because I need to wear two pairs. Easy to get on and off. I don't know how long they'll last because I think they will go where the vinyl part joins the nylon leg bit.
