Also can you scan document to PDF** A: Yes, it will scan legal documents. Yes you can scan documents and save as PDF files. This depends on your operating system. I use MAC OSX and Win7pro. Both work great using the HP software.. You will like the double sided scanning function. Saves on time and improves overall look and feel of end item - document. There is a drivers section and it is associated with your OS. there you will find the correct driver and SW Package to download. I believe it came with an HP solution. I really like the interface. It works really well with this scanner. With it you can save the scans in different formats. The only drawback to the software is that it doesn't do optical character recognition. If you wanted to do transform a scanned document into a Word document you need the OCR. I use OmniPage Ultimate for that purpose. Also if you create your files to a pdf format you'll something like Adobe Acrobat Professional to manipulate the file within pdf. Adobe Reader won't cut it. You can make changes to the file within the HP solution but not OCR. I really like the crop and rotation features in the HP software. I also like the accuracy and clarity of the scanner. It runs best at 300 dpi resolution in terms of speed (but not one of the fastest on the market). At 600 (better for color) it is slower. I mean.... A LOT. I've scanned thousands of slides. Thousands of pictures. Thousands of documents in the 10 years this scanner been mine. I am going to cry when it breaks. I have never had one problem with it. HP software can be a pain if you upgrade your OS or whatever....but in the end, I get it working.I just purchased another one of these to have around for the day my 2006 purchase finally bites the dust. THIS IS THE BEST SCANNER EVER!!!!I probably shouldn't write this review because HP will make it junky so I have to buy a new one every couple of years.The features on this have really gotten used. THE Transparent materials adapter is fantastic...and I like that you can put a stack of pictures in there to feed thru.
