Absolute necessity to use the Amscope microscope effectively
Without a light, you really can't use an Amscope microscope. The view is too dim. With this light, the microscope works perfectly. The light completely illuminates the target under the lens. Money well spent.

Works great but short lifetime
Product was used in a metallurgical engineering lab for 2 years before the unit failed. The multi-directional light is ideal for evaluating fracture surfaces, the light control is great, and the price is reasonable. 2-year life while being sparingly used is way too small While looking for a replacement, I noticed similar short life reviews by others. Unfortunately, at least on Amazon, there are no other similar multi-directional light units so I felt compelled to order another unit with the expectation of a low lifetime. For ours anyway, its not the actual ring light but the control box that failed.

AmScope 144 LED Ring Light.
Bought this illuminator for an AmScope SM-1TZ-PL and didn't work as expected. To begin, ring can not be mounted properly (centered) because it hits the built in LED light housing. Also to be noted, the fact that ring can not be oriented for logic use of quarter control. Another terrible thing, when zoomed in al the way, you can see a reflection of the LED cover on the periphery of the field of view, rendering a distorted hard to see image. Conclusion: Obviously this unit is not designed to be used with this line of Stereo Miceoscopes.

Works well, one section died with light use after <2 years.
Works well with my SM-3TZ, provides more than enough light when combined with a white working surface and my 3 x T6 workbench lamp. Purchased less than two years ago however and it has seen very light use, and one of the LED sections no longer works. I have a warranty service request pending, I'll report back with updated results.

Very flexible control and the LED seems having good color temperature. The adaptor ring is very handy.

Lichtmenge okay, aber spiegelt – der Diffusor müsste mattiert sein. Kabel stinken nach Weichmacher-Chemikalien.

I'm using this primarily to view small mineral specimens with my stereo microscope. The ability to turn quadrants on/off really helps to improve depth of field for viewing and photomicrography. Good value for the money.
