surprisingly decent control panel
The build quality of this device really surprised me. Trims are nice, feel good, and are dampened. Faders aren't glass-smooth, but slightly better than motorized faders. Package size is amazing. It's the the smallest 8-channel control unit with bank switching I've come across, and it works great on a SD888. If you have one of the SD 800 series, you probably want one of these for those smaller gigs.

Does most things well, but it's cheap
Pros: - It sends CCs and looks like a mixer - Tidy package Cons: - It feels kind of cheap - CC "hold" for the bottom buttons don't retain their state - Faders are pretty stiff (it'd be great if it felt like a console) - Mixface Manager software is awful (crashes, doesn't reveal errors, confusing to pick MIDI device) - You don't get much for $200

Even works well with Cakewalk
Using the Cubase setting in DAW mode (and Mackie Universal control in Cakewalk's surface controller menu with handshaking disabled) the Mixface works well for DAW control. I have it sitting on and interfaced with (host port) my SL88 Studio controller. All integrated smoothly. Nicely built too.

Great Addition for VST Hammond B3 users
As a user of the Studiologic SL-88, this is a powerful addition to my controller. The four zones on my SL-88 can be enabled and disabled with a button push. The presets on the Mixface sync with the SL controllers. This is very powerful, as you are not shackled to having to change presets on each, but a single patch change on your SL will change the patch on the Mixface, that you can assign on your SL. I use the faders as drawbars for B3-X (by IKmultimedia). This is a powerful and useful feature, as I have been a lifelong B3/C3/A100 player. The buttons can choose presets, control VSTinstrument parameters. Also the buttons can be used as the preset keys on an actual B3. Try to find a drawbar controller for a VST Hammond out there. You will not find one at this price. If you have a SL series controller, you are fortunate. Bluetooth? Well, that is a powerful tool, as well. If you use Windows 10, you need to first download and install MIDIberry. Ignore the negative reviews about MIDIberry, these are from incompetent users. If you are using a MAC, the bluetooth functionality is perfect. I have a video demonstrating on a Windows machine the Mixface simultaneously controlling 2 different programs (Ableton and a VST player "Cantabile 3") and one hardware rack synth (Yamaha Motif ES Rack) with the Mixface. It is using BT, USB and SL-88's 5 pin DIN at the same time. Yes, the video is fairly complicated, and you have to have some understanding about MIDI. I also have a Yamaha Montage set up that is used as a single keyboard controller for my B3-X and the Mixface is a fantastic drawbar controller and lots of button and knob controls. If you have a virtual B3 VST instrument, this is good with and without the SL-88. If you have an SL, you will love this item. If you are looking for a drawbar controller, you will love it.

I love this for use with Reason and Reaper
This is a great controller for Reason and also works very well with Reaper. I had no issues with drivers or firmware updates. It looks great, stands nicely at an angle on your desk, and is easy to set up and use.

I’ve had this thing for almost a year and it can do the job of controlling MIDI based instruments and effects but overall, it is very clunky to work with. It does work with Logic Pro 11 if you install the DAW script. However, my other MIDI controllers do this automatically. Changing MIDI CC is rather convoluted and painful. The only piece of software that comes with this is their manager software, which seems more like an afterthought than anything else. My other controllers come with software that allow me to easily set up MIDI CC codes effortlessly. In retrospect this thing was a waste of money. If I had to do it again, I would recommend staying away from this thing.

Bought this, Studiologic SL Mixface, does not work with the latest Logic Pro. Company promised the earth and said they are going to address the issue. Bought in November 2020, It is now April 2021, nothing has changed. No more studiologic for me, appalling service. No reflection on Amazon, they delivered to their usual high standard. This SL Mixface is of no value to me, money wasted.
