Good value for the money
So far, so good. Seems like a great deal for the price. Good detail up to 25 feet at night, further in the daytime. Easy install, good picture, reliable recording. Comes with all the bells and whistles, including: audio capable (1 input), PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom camera, 1 input) capable, motion detection recording and zone/range set-up. Cameras have done fine in Texas thunderstorms mounted under the roof overhang. I have yet to link up with a network for remote viewing, but will update the review when I do. Well worth the price, this is the best return on investment for securing your property.

the cameras are pretty decent in live view
Pros: The price, the cameras are pretty decent in live view. Playback mode, isn't as clear, could be better. Cons: The instructions manual has very minimal info/help. It doesn't give details for all the menu settings. I have set a schedule for recording but had to figure out how to keep it that way. Not even sure if it's really recording per my set scheduleI. I changed the sensitivity on motion detection and it still records the tree blowing. I want audio but you have to purchase a separate mic that you have attached to the camera somehow and run the wire just like you did with the cameras. Pain in the rear. My remote control that came with it doesn't work so I have to use the mouse. I just bought the network cable to connect my dvr to my router since they aren't in the same place. I had to get a 20ft ethernet cable that I'll have to run somehow so it's not noticeable and won't get tripped over. Wish the dvr was WiFi capable.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!
I purchased this product to protect my home and it was the worst mistake EVER!!! The camera quality is horrible.. i set up one of the cameras in my front door hoping to see who comes to my home and what i got was a blochy, distorted, fuzzy picture and this was in the day time at night forget it you can't see anything... and the so-called support yeah RIGHT good luck with trying to get hold of somebody... i left messages after messages and never got a reply. I had to call Amazon to get a hold of someone and only then i was advised to email them with my problems WTF, after 4 emails back and forth the company rep who logged on to my system remotely told me that the picture quality i am receiving is the best i am going to get with this unit and that if i wanted better quality i needed to purchase one of their IP systems which range in the thousands... the product is a joke the support is even worst and the overall user interface is so screwed up the time is in military time... good luck trying to get live support with that seriously save yourself the aggravation, time and money... Lesson learn for me

I can see you clearly now!
Pros- great cameras, great support by phone, quality of product, engineering of product. Cons- You need to watch youtube videos or know this exact system in order to know which ports to open, how to change aspect ratio of screen, cables could be a little longer. Review- I will start our by saying that I am not a beginner in this and it took some tinkering to get it to work properly. Laview has a great support team and they are very willing to help you out. The product itself is very well engineered including the boxing of the items, and all the installation parts that are needed. The technical information is lacking and therefore needed to place a couple phone calls with laview to get it straightened out. The cables are high quality but could be longer (my house is 1700 sq feet and I did not have much to spare) and are easily brought through all the mounting hardware. This camera system is well thought out but the documentation needs some work to get it to be easily installed. Ports to be open are port 80, 8000, and 8554 which all youtube videos show are the 80, and 8000. Thank you Laview for a wonderful product!

For the price its pretty ok and US support.
It is what it is. There are so many options and things to consider when purchasing a home surveillance camera system. This particular one I purchased for a friend who had a very tight budget. It had very good reviews and US support. That and the fact I was buying through amazon is really what tipped me toward this system. Between amex and amazon backing the purchase I was very confident that any issues would be solved in good time. Like I said before. For the price it is very good. Very easy to setup if you have a reasonable amount of experience with IP networks and electronics. I had three cameras running hooked up to a TV and remote viewing outside the network with LaViews DDNS in about and hour and a half. The image quality isn't that great day or night but... "it is what it is" for the price and the image options are plentiful. With a little tweaking you can get a good idea of whats going on but, the cameras are only 600TVL and beyond 10'/15' your not going to identify anyone. Don't fool yourself. In closing.. For the price its a great budget system. works well enough in low light conditions and the setup was easy. US support also. I did call the support line but it went to voice mail. I would never buy one personally. The main problem with all of the analog systems that seem to have flooded the market is that they're all the same cheap crap. Even the IP systems are the same way. It's a take your pick situation and more money doesn't always seem to mean better quality. There is so much information out there now that it can be very confusing. If I were shopping for a home surveillance system personally I'd want good quality full HD 5MP IP cameras but, that kind of a setup would cost a bit more. If your on a budget this is a good system. If you can afford to, go full hd ip or hd sdi. $500+ range.

This seems to be an extremely good system replete with many bells and whistles
This seems to be an extremely good system replete with many bells and whistles. The night vision is really very good. It is an in-depth process to install it and set it up...the good news here is that they have a really good customer service department. I had to call several times as the configuration is pretty complicated for a novice computer user, but they walked me through it and the system works exactly as I had hoped it would. The individual camera cables are just over 60 feet long, which I didn't see in the description. It is also very important to know that you are STRONGLY URGED to also install a Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) which is sold separately and those can be quite expensive for a decent one (which I also installed). I was able to get the system up and running over a weekend, which is what I had hoped. Long story short, I am duly impressed with the system...excellent value for the money and great customer service from the company...and it was delivered on time.

It works, but there are caveats.
This security system has been a bit of a thorn in my side. I've been installing it gradually, when I have time. The first camera I installed seems to have a clearer image than the other 5 that I've installed thus far. I can't find a setting to get the other cameras to an equal quality. Additionally, when setting the cameras for motion detect, it works fine for all of them except the one camera that has the better image quality. Initially it would record non-stop, so I did what I could to set it for motion detection, then it stopped recording completely. The camera is functioning fine, I can see the livestream on my PC, and on my phone by DDNS, but for the life of me, I can't seem to make it record on a motion detection setting. It's frustrating. When you log into the DVR and attempt to increase video settings, it becomes questionable whether they'll be applied or not. You crank up the settings, click save, and more often than not it says "save unsuccessful" or Something about XML. This is so frustrating. Does it work, sure. Is it user friendly, no. Does it come with decent instructions, no. Is crawling through your attic with a fishing pole easy, no way. I needed this system after someone helped themselves to some of my Christmas lights, but in retrospect, I think I should have done more research. It's just not intuitive enough for your average person. Heck, I even had to find a video online explaining how to set up DDNS; that requires opening up 3 ports to your DVR's IP address, I suppose that's actually unavoidable, but it is unfortunate. The inability to get higher quality video settings to save is a big deal. If your seriously considering installing a security system like this, I'd look elsewhere, read the reviews, and if possible, find out how user friendly their instructions and UI are before making the investment.

Cameras are great, but the receiver after 11 months HDD fail ...
Cameras are great, but the receiver after 11 months HDD fail and recording don't work. Format HDD and 2 days later HDD doesn't exist. It happens more than once. Replaced HDD and it still do the same.
