Canteen 2 Quart with Blanket Cover

I love This canteen!!! I had one like it decades ago in scouts. I recently purged that old rusty one, because i liked looking at it but not actually drinking from it, so i decided to replace it. When it arrived my 6&8 year olds decided they wanted them too. I didn’t want to end up carrying all 3 of them on our hikes so I decided to return it and buy hydration backpacks instead. Those worked out great for that but not everyday use and I never got around to returning this guy. It road around in the car with us until the day after the return deadline. Since i paid for it i had better use it. This guy is a bigger version than my old one. It’s giant! It makes me laugh. And It just so happens that It’s exactly the right amount of water that i should be drinking daily, which is a lot. You can take your current weight in pounds, and multiply that by 1/2 to 2/3rds . For seriously, I googled it. It’s a conversation starter, people love it. Some mistake it for a purse or a drum. It’s fun. It’s brought up some great conversations about the health benefits of drinking water and about the importance of ensuring clean water for everyone, everywhere . By using it I’m cutting way back on my single use plastic waste, which may also come up in conversation. It’s stylish and unique. The strap is exactly the right length, fits like a purse. The part you drink from is white plastic. Something to think about, make sure you carry something, like a bandana, to wipe your lipstick off of it before it stains. The only reason I would consider A lower star rating is because after using it consistently for a very short amount of time, like 2 weeks, the lid broke. In the canteens defense, it was probably user error, as I saw My child holding it by the lid loop, which broke it even more. Now I have To make sure it’s upright constantly or there’s a giant puddle. I’m going to buy another one, it’s a great price. I’ll probably try to use a special plastic glue to fix it and keep as a back up. CHEERS!!

Being an outdoorsy person I spend a lot of time in the hot Texas heat. I do a lot of hiking and nature photography. As a naturalist you have to stay hydrated. This is a much bigger canteen than most of my water bottles. I have many for various places I am at. Some tumblers for indoor use, a small-ish canteen for when I have to walk a bit. However, this one is good for prolonged voyages. I love the soft blanket exterior. I have always loved this style of canteen. I used to watch a lot of westerns with my Granddad and I would see many of these types of canteens in the films. I find these to be a nice esthetic but also a good thing to have when you are outdoors doing a lot of heavy hoofing. I would say the only gripe is the strap it is a touch too small but nothing too much to worry about. I love how big it is; I got the 4 Qt and I love how it holds twice as much water as my others. I love the color and I love the quality. Just the strap is the only thing but I can mend it and fix it. Nothing too off putting. I love getting new hiking and camping equipment. This is something to look into if you are in the market for a new canteen or if you are indeed going on a long trip to the high deserts or any place. It is just a nice thing to have. Water is essential and this holds a lot of it.

Its small and holds up to 2 quarts of water. It keeps it somewhat cool. My only concern is that the strap isn't long enough. It stays at the armpit, maybe a little lower depending on your size.

I have had two of these for over five years I just bought another. I use them to store water in my vehicle in the summer months. This is my emergency supply for break downs in remote areas. If you want to store water they are great but not so suitable for hiking or backpacking, I don't know anyone who hikes and stays overnight who uses a canteen anyway, get a hydration bladder for that. However, hydration bladders go bad if you use them for long term storage. So carry you emergency pack with a clean hydration bladder in your truck but fill it for use from another storage container. I do not leave any water in the vehicle when the temp drops below 25 degrees not sure they would stand up to freezing but summer is when I feel the need a large water supply. I feel many of the other containers you might find are overpriced these canteens are a good deal for the money. Has package the standard stupid California required warning but the interior is lined with a drink safe plastic liner.

I got this, thinking I could have a canteen like the one my dad used when I was a kid. It has a classic look to it, and it holds a lot of water. After the first short day hike, I found that the straps had been cut halfway through by the metal band that encircles the outside. Plastic wedge inserts were probably supposed to protect the straps from the metal edge, but the edges of the straps were unprotected. Also, the fabric pilled terribly from rubbing against me. It was wearing thin in a hurry. So, I packed hot glue between the straps and the metal to save them (it looked horrible), and then I went on another hike. Second time out, a plastic buckle snapped, dropping the canteen to the ground. I reattached the ends with a carabiner clip to finish the hike. I thought about replacing the plastic buckle, but I figured that would be throwing good money after bad. With two short hikes and two major failures, I decided I just didn't trust this thing anymore.

I bought this for decoration. Not sure I would drink out of it. Pretty flimsy. But it is good for the purpose I bought it for.

Good economical canteen. Love the old style look. Holds water good without leaking. Big enough to carry plenty of water with ease of carrying it. Not too heavy. Design is nice too rounded with shoulder strap and metal surround. Seems to be protected from sunlight and most physical damage.

I love using this to go hiking, it carries a lot of water. Can take a fall despite being kinda flexible. My problem with is are the straps, they're too short and flimsy and the material scratches at an exposed skin but I took care of that by wrapping a scarf around it. I've been looking for different straps but it's somewhat hard to do.

I bought this some time ago as a larger capacity water carrier for extended through hikes and motorcycle camping and it has proven to be a useful and reliable piece of kit...what a vast improvement over the old galvanized metal blanket canteen I had in Boy Scouts....this is light and durable...food grade plastic inner bottle is protected by the metal rim and wetting the blanket cools the water inside 2-5 degrees via evaporation....strap is functional and adequate for fitting it to a pack or saddlebag...good value for the price.
