Simple replacement
Started doing my own maintenance on my college bound son’s car he got from us. 2011 Subaru Outback. PCV valve getting clogged up can cause various issues, and our 102,000 mile had never had it replaced. For such an inexpensive part, I thought it worthwhile to replace it. It’s really not that hard to do. The only annoying bit is reseating the hose clamp after putting in the new part. The replacement is a like for like part. Looks exactly the same. Took out the old PCV and it was quite gummed up. Not completely stuck, but close enough. There are plenty of videos on how to do this. Save some headaches and money, and do this.

Perfect fit for 2012 2.5
10 minute job, first replacement after 10+ years. Odd that Amazon does not carry the PCV hose; this was available at the local Subaru dealer. Replace the hose at the same time. It is cooked and brittle by this point. Old PCV valve didn’t ’rattle’, new one is good to go.

New PCV valve seems to function the same as the one I am replacing
Most PCV valves rattle when you shake them. This one does not. Not even the brand new one I bought. I can blow thru the old one and the new one. Old one is not carboned up. I only bought new one since my 2010 Subaru Outback, 2.5 L, is 15 years old and had the original PCV valve. The old and the new seem the same as far as being able to blow thru them. 5 stars for fast shipping. I will replace the old one even though I do not think I need a new one. I had to cut the packaging open to test blow it.
