Animal Catch Pole – 4ft PVC Catch and Release Small Animal Trap, Animal Handling Catch Pole with 10in Opening

Used it last night to catch a possum on my breezeway. I seen reviews where they had trouble getting it to release once pulled. I just pulled on the release knob and the possum pulled his head right out and then I stepped on the one side of the cable and pulled to get it all the way released so I am ready for the next critter. Very thick pvc pipe, did not bend when the possum was trying to get away from me. I am a 70 year old woman, and I had no trouble using it. Very easy, and well made. Very pleased.

Although I'm not a big fan of catch poles I needed to use this to secure a feral cat so that we could put him in his travel cage to transport him to our new home when we moved. We secured him with that and then used gloves to pick him up and put him in the large cage that we transported him into the new house. I'm sure it was traumatic for him but he's happily settled into the new place and has his own bedroom. We could not have done it without this catch pole.

I used it on heritage turkeys that I raise. Worked really well! The plastic coating is a little slick, but that's so it doesn't hurt the animals.

I have no experience with any catch pole and just needed one for my unsocial cat when we needed to get her in a carrier. I think is designed for much larger animals. The "rope" is a bit thick for my small 8 lb cat and is a bit difficult to pull it tight quickly WITHOUT jerking her hard as the line is pulled through. I tried it on my brothers 65 lb golden retriever and it did not feel like I was huring him or being too rough (the dog thought it was a game). That being said, it feels VERY sturdy and I felt like I had control of of my brothers dog, not so muchy itty bitty cat. The locking strap on it holds VERY well and did not loosen at all as i was using it

DOES NOT RELEASE ANIMAL VERY WELL. When Snaring the animal it works great, but when you try and release the animal the loop doesn't come loose. I just had to put my hand right on the animal risking bites and scratches to remove the loop. To the company who makes it, you need to create a better release mechanism. The current one does not work and puts the user and animal at risk of injury. 1 star.

Good catch capability BUT poor release mechanism. Unnecessary stress on the animal as the spring operated release mechanism requires two hands and additional time.

Just received it today, I believe I bought it new ? But it's all marked and scratch up .
