It is with the plastic compartment box as seen in the photo. I haven't left the box out of mine to see if it collapses over time. I know it stays standing with no problems when I get things out of the box at my job. With the tools I carry I would guess it weighs around 25-30lbs.

Could I trash the box and still have the floor be solid-ish? I don't have any use for small parts but I can use that compartment for blades/etc.

The box is required for stability.

Will it fit an 18 volt drill in the middle pouch?

Yes it will. It will accommodate an 18 and a 20 volt drill but not a 24 volt. This pouch is great, heavy duty with lots of space for your tools.
