The range is incredible and I have this same system in my high speed rc boat. The programming is easy and it is very reliable. **Q: Will it work with an old Tyco 27mhz car?** A: NO , the 2.4GHZ . system is incomparable. You're better off upgrading the radio. IT will have better range, reliability, easier to upgrade. THE GTS- 3 B is the radio for cars, as the system has amazing range. Almost 3/4 of of mile. IT"S the same radio I have , and is something I strongly recommend. **Q: how does it pair** A: Works well and pairs automatically. **Q: How do i reverse the steering and throttle? When i pull the trigger back in goes in reverse and when I steer left it goes right. Any help?** A: THIS one is easy. Each of the profiles allows you to "fine tune your model." GOT TO the model you want to adjust, and do the following: Transmitter on: TURN the dial to the channel you need to fix, (Channel 1 is steering, ) Channel 2 is the speed controller. ON the dial, *Select ) , channel, and scroll over to REV, and select it, if you want steering reversed. Make sure it's highlighted, and then hit the END key, and do the same thing to channel 2, if necessary. JUST remember to hit the end key , to finish up the changes. CHOICES will be "Normal, or reversed. ." (BY default most models will be "normal." I was out of the hobby for years and when I came back I wanted to start back cheap. My biggest complaint is the 8 AA requirement. It makes it heavy, unbalanced to hold, and expensive to replace. I converted mine to a 3s lipo very easily and now it's a 5 star transmitter. 4 stars because of batteries issues. It also has a poor range.
