It demands the entirety of one’s attention for long periods of time, during which every faculty of the mind is employed in recreating the sensations, worlds, concepts, and emotions described and invented by the author. You will read it a second and a third time and notice that, seemingly out of nowhere, new sections have appeared between the old, and even the ones you thought you had read will seem as fresh and stimulating as though you had never seen them before. This is a book quite unlike any other, and each line - even the short ones - gleams with the polish of ages of meticulous deliberation, phrasing, twinned meaning, meter, allusion, and ancient etymology.
