Also may be good to have a filter in front of the softener. **Q: does this system timer etc need an enclosure from the elements ?** A: I already had a cement slap and covered area added on to the back of my shed. I did add a temp wall enclosure until I can build permanent walls. Not sure if it’s necessary but I want this system to last. **Q: I have received a bag of Ion exchange resin along with the water softener, The tank already has resin in it, do I need to add the extra resin ?** A: The tank comes preloaded with gravel. You must add all the resin it came with. **Q: Can I plumb the discharge/waste line to my garden or will the discharge water damage my plants?** A: No, the discharge water from the softener is not good for plants.
