## Description

RUSCOE P141 1oz Pliobond Adhesive, Amber

Review: Great for camera leather - I bought this specifically to use for re-attaching a leather panel to an old camera. Like many projects and this one being no exception, prep work is the key. I had to very carefully remove the extremely old, thin, stiff, and delicate piece of leather. Then, (and this was the most time-consuming part) I cleaned all of the old adhesive off of the section of the camera body where the leather was removed, down to the metal (do not skip this step). Then, I took the piece of leather (which was stiff and contoured into the form of the section of camera body it covered) and VERY carefully, used a tooth brush and brushed off as much of the debris from the old adhesive off that I could. Finally, I placed the leather panel on a paper plate, and applied an appropriately sized drop of Pliobond to the center of it. I used a toothpick to spread the Pliobond out toward the edges in all directions (you want to get the edges covered, not too much or you will get excess adhesive coming out of the seams and not too little, or the edges will pop up). The Pliobond worked perfectly for this project. It's not an instant bond, so you get a little wiggle room for adjusting and shifting. The leather panel is back on the camera and tight. The only thing that surprised me was how thin the Piobond is. I was expecting a thicker adhesive more like a cement, the Pliobond is more of a liquid, like a glue. Just watch for that when applying it. Some people have complained about the smell. It didn't bother me at all, to me it was no better or worse than the smell of Liquid Paper, but less pungent than the old Testors model glue. I'd rather use something that smells a little chemically while being used THAT WORKS than something that smells like lemon or pine but DOESN'T WORK. But that's just me. I would definitely buy and use this product again (hopefully they keep this same formula).
Review: My 'go-to' glue for unusual materials. Sticks to anything - holds like iron. - Unbelievable! Why isn't this better known? I just heard of it a few months ago and I've been using all sorts of glue for a half-century. Pliobond is a serious industrial strength contact adhesive. If you look at their website they sell mostly to industry (where in certain manufacturing areas it's the adhesive of choice) and are not targeted to the consumer market. Follow application instructions! I noticed any poor reviews failed on this account. Apply cement to both surfaces and let dry to tacky. If absorbed apply 2nd coat. Then lightly re-coat surfaces. Put pieces together and hold in place for 10 - 15 minutes. Wham - they're glued. Full bond strength in about a half day. This sticks to almost anything (I haven't found something it won't stick to) and holds like iron. You can glue stuff to glass surfaces with this. I bought it for gluing down peeling leather coverings on vintage cameras but am now using it for almost everything. On the down side the manufacturer says it has a six month shelf life. My tube is older than that and still fine, but it's not something that you're going to keep lying around for years (I have some 20 year old PC-7 epoxy in large metal cans that I still use regularly). It is also a solvent based glue so don't use it in large amounts without proper ventilation. With an ounce tube I doubt that would be an issue unless you were using all of it inside a closed area. Kids - don't sniff glue! lol. Comparison: I've used most of the usual contact cements like the 3M spray adhesive. They are toys compared to this. Summary: Pros: Sticks anything to anything forever if instructions are followed. Cons: Limited shelf life.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is there a solvent I can use to remove old pliobond from metal surfaces?.**
A: Acetone can do the job but be very cautious on non metal surfaces, it is a very powerful solvent and can ruin most plastic surfaces.

**Q: All right, what's for sale here? goodyear or ruscoe pliobond? the goodyear stuff i used decades ago was great; the newer ruscoe not so much.**
A: This product is Rusco Pliobond.

**Q: Will this work with rubber**
A: On the front of the package it states “For rubber, leather, canvas, steel, fiberglass, aluminum, wood, glass”. On the back it states “Pliobond is a unique formulation of synthetic rubber and resins to yield a Permanent, Flexible Bond with most materials.”

**Q: Does a small dispensing tube come with this? The tube enables one to lay down small beads of the cement. One supplier call it a "micro dispensing tube**
A: No not the one I have, it one tube

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good adhesive, bad tube packaging
*by J***B on January 29, 2026*

This adhesive, as recommended, works great for camera leather and flexible semi-permanent bonding of dissimilar materials. It is also removable with some coercion and a little alcohol or solvent so that equipment remains repairable. The reason for losing a star is the tube packaging - this glue separates in the tube into the runny solvent and the thicker opaque rubbery stuff. So if you open it without mixing it it run all over. But the tube package is a very thin weak metal material, so if you try to massage it to mix the glue inside for a even consistency, or even just squeeze more out, it cracks and leaks all over the place, ruining the rest of the glue. The first time it sealed itself and I kept it in a little ziplock but now its leaking all over the place and I may need to throw the rest of the tube out. It's a shame the tube is so bad. I may need to buy the can next time even though it's way more than I need
