Q: I have 55mm thickness of the door. Can I to fit the lock or supposed to be no more then 45mm thickness of the door

I fitted this lock to my NOMINAL 50mm thick gate. The gate has vertical shiplap facing so is about 58mm where the lock sits. The outside face of the lock is therefore recessed from the escutcheon plate which is also slightly angled but it still works fine. Obviously your call.

Q: Does it have a latch or will I need to use a key every time the door closes?

The lock does not have a latch. You use it to lock only. That said one turn of the key sends the bolt all the way out which is very handy. I have this lock fitted to big driveway stable doors and I am very happy with it.

Q: Can this be fitted to either hung gates?

Yes the lock can be fitted to either side of the gates
