Together these three books are the direct sequel to the movie Aliens and the continuing adventures of Ripley, Hicks and Newt. Kind of. You have to keep in mind that these were written before Alien 3 came out, and that is the most glaring problem.Twentieth Century Fox wants to keep continuity between all Alien properties, an admirable goal, but the only way to accomplish it now is to change either the books or the films. Guess which one they chose?They fixed this conundrum in the laziest way possible. Since Newt and Hicks are dead in the opening credits of Alien 3 they decided to just do a “find and replace” on their names, changing them to Billie (Newt) and Wilks (Hicks). Ugh, I hate it. They should have just let the movie and literature universes be separate, like Marvel, because they have made these stories worse by doing this. Not just worse, but confusing, because now you have to mentally translate these names back to the ones you know. It’s kind of disgusting really, I don’t think I will ever read these again, although I’m glad I made the effort. Hopefully, they release all the other Aliens Dark Horse novels from the mid 90's. I have the comics to this book and the other Alien books, but I enjoy the novelization much more. Now "they" need to release all Predator Dark Horse novels! One complaint: why can't publishers release all these books at the same time? These books are 20yrs old. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Steve Perry "Aliens" trilogy - on Kindle at last! *by C***. on Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2016* I originally read these books in high school, and loved 'em. I've been requesting Amazon get these books released on Kindle for years, and to get them all for the price of one was an amazing deal (at least to me).Set roughly ten years after the movie "Aliens", veteran sci-fi writer Steve Perry tells a great story of the aliens and their escape into the wilds on Earth, while disgraced Colonial Marine Sgt. Wilks and Billie, a female survivor from an alien invasion of another colony which occurred around the same time as the crisis in the second movie. Surprisingly, Ripley shows up for the third book. How? Read and find out. ;-)That's all I'm going to reveal in this review about the plot of this book trilogy. As with any of the Alien movies, Perry does not shy away from the graphic violence that comes from dealing with a deadly species like the aliens. He also developed his characters into real and believable people who fit right into the mythos of the Alien stories.As for sexual content, yes - there are a few scenes in Earth Hive and The Female War (which Perry wrote with his daughter). Perry does not shy away from detail necessary to provide a real you-are-there feeling, but doesn't go into blatantly disgustingly graphic.Any sign of Predators? No.Any Engineers (from the movie "Prometheus")? Ehhh . . . yes and no. There is a creature that Perry developed, based off the appearance of the fossilized Engineer pilot - and since these books were released long before "Prometheus", which revealed that the pilot was in a flight suit, the creature in this book looks very different - but it does fly an Engineer ship. Since this continuity error is the result of a new movie, and not author's lack of attention, I can overlook it.Whether or not this story continues in the upcoming Vol. 2 Omnibus, I don't know.
