Soft metal. Will bend. Do not use for freestanding structure.
The media could not be loaded. Be careful with these....My intention was to use these for a 14x14 pergola with 6x6 posts.I dug x4 8”x24” round holes for footings, filled them with concrete and set the post holders.I waited 48 hours for the concrete to cure and they were well set, zero budge or wriggle. After cutting the 6x6s to length they were installed vertically and I started to build the pergola.I noticed the movement but figured once I installed the lag bolts on the beams the movement would stop. It didn’t.Next morning the whole structure had shifted with the bent metal and was swaying in the wind.I’ve taken down the pergola due to safety and now have to work out how I remove the brackets and brake up the concrete. Next time I’ll set the posts into the ground which with 20:20 hindsight as I’d already dug the holes for the footings I should have just set them in the ground.

Great price, solid build
These are great for the price and as far as I can tell they'll do just fine for years and years to come. Doing a purgola project and coming in around 1200 bucks altogether saving a little here and there was big when the other Simpson brand, while I'm sure the quality is there, are going to run you about 3 times as much. I ran a planer on all sides of the 6x6 posts and at the bases and they fit right into the boots just fine. Word too any fellow novices out there, make sure you're good n square at the base! Haha, save you a couple hours of correcting down the line but anyhoos, highly recommend these.

Not for large structures
I gave them a 3 just for the price, but dont expect these to be square. I bought enough to do my 40x16 camper shed with 16ft post and a lot is left to be desired. There is so much post movement I'm having to figure out how to brace this shed. So if your like me and didnt want to spend the 90 bucks a pop for the ones with 4 rebarb do yourself a favor and just buy the more expensive ones. These are probably ok for smaller patios but not for larger structures.

Garbage
What a total waste of $30....only 2 of the 4 received is actually useable. Absolutely no way they will fit a 4x4 post. Keeping on because I could use 2 of them...the other 2 complete garbage.

Great for my specific use.
I am using these to attach to treated 4x4 posts and position against existing walls. Then I will secure the walls to the posts. Otherwise, I would have to tear down three walls, dig holes for each post, plant the posts and then re-install the walls. These look plenty heavy-duty for my uses. My use is probably a bit unique, but these fit the bill for me.

great product
Bought two of these for a swing set structure. Initially had the screw in ground stacks but two of those broke due to my kids being bigger and swinging harder. So decided to buy two of these. Installation went well, bolted and screwed the piece onto the 4x4 post. Then poured concrete in hole. The structure does not wiggle like it used. Kids have been swinging about a month and seems to be working great.

Steel too flimsy
Bought the 6x6 post holders, set into concrete and anchored posts a few days later. The 8’ 6x6 wooden post rock back n fourth when I barely push on them. The steel is too thin and flimsy. I should’ve read into some of the review before purchasing.

Not worth it! Cheap product.
Was not very stable directly in the ground, when we removed one, right after putting it in the spike portion broke off. Waste of my money!
