    Decent for the price

I am an auto mechanic and sometimes you just need an angle drill. Another guy at work has the Ingersoll Rand 7807R. I used it and thought it was just ok. The trigger is supposed to be variable, and I guess it technically is if you can operate the drill in a space and only press the trigger down about a millimeter. Its usually all or nothing. So I went for the CP879. I get the drill and take it to work, try and use it and its the same way. I set the IR and the CP side by side, they are the exact same drill! They have all the same markings, both made in Taiwan, everything is the same except the CP has a red case, thats it. So I got a variable air regulator and an air hose whip and made my own inline regulator to slow the speed down. I was also hoping the CP was going to be slightly smaller than the IR to get in tight spots a lot easier, but as I said, the two drills are identical.

    Gets in the Smallest Areas

I bought this drill so I could work in cramped areas on vehicles but still have adequate power for drilling through thick steel sections. The short version: lots of power, easy to control the speed, and gets in the worst cramped areas. Longer version: I've used corded drills, battery operated drills, and other pneumatic drills. My experience with the Chicago Pneumatic tools has always been very positive. Air drills use the air compressor for power, so they're much more compact and lighter in weight than drills with electric motors. They also can be used in wet locations with no danger of electric shocks. The right-angle chuck on this drill means that you only need a few inches of clearance in front of where the hole is being drilled instead of eight or ten inches. This particular model is well balanced and easy to control, despite producing a good bit of torque. The head is aluminum and the body is a plastic composite. That helps keep the tool weight down. The price for the drill is fairly high, but it outperforms the bargain lines on the market. I felt it was well worth the money.

Good tool, unfortunately it slipped off my tool box ...

Good tool, unfortunately it slipped off my tool box and the cover case at the top of the drill broke and the head came off and is now out of commission until I buy the replacement part
